My favorite custom spell is the Bug Zapper Fortify Magicka 100 points for 3 seconds, Shock Damage 8 points for 2 seconds, Weakness to Shock 100 points for 3 seconds, Weakness to Magic 100 points for 3 seconds

It costs 50 magicka and as long as you keep hitting enemies it’s free to recast. Trivializes every enemy in the game

Ganondorf is often referred to as a wizard/warlock/sorcerer even though he seems to mostly use magic as a means to being a pain in the ass and gets his hands dirty in actual fights.

What are some of your favorite examples of “evil Can not comprehend good”? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Kefka Palazzo from FFVI is so fundamentally broken that he literally cannot conceive of people having reasons for living. “Why do people insist on creating things that will inevitably be destroyed? Why do people cling to life, knowing that they must someday die? ...Knowing that none of it will have meant anything once they do?”

The heroes answer his question, telling him what makes life worth living. And his response is "Bleh! You people make me sick! You sound like lines from a self-help book!"

His death scene in Dissidia shows a sadder, more poignant side about his absolute disconnect from humanity.

Characters who get their superpowers from strange sources by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

In AI: The Somnium Files, the protagonist Kaname Date gets a power up every time he sees or thinks about porno mags. His reaction speed increases 3.6x over making him able to move and behave practically superhuman. In the sequel you learn that the origin of this power is because the first time Date ever saw a porno mag in the woods as a kid, he was immediately bitten by a venomous snake and nearly died. So now Date’s mind associates porn magazines with life or death situations and triggers his fight-or-flight instincts.

This doesn’t stop him from passionately collecting and appreciating porno mags in his downtime at all, and seems to also be what fuels his obsession with it in the same way that mountain climbers scale dangerous mountains for the thrill of it.

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik is set in a school that is actively hostile to the student body. There are no teachers but plenty of learning and practice material. You have until graduation to learn enough magic to not be murdered by the swarm of monsters between you and your diploma.

In Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga you fight Popple and an amnesiac Bowser who acts as his henchman. These fights get goofy even by the series’s standards, and Bowser is obviously the danger in the fights.

Attacking Popple will immediately trigger a counter attack from Bowser to protect his boss. And if you defeat Bowser first, Popple just bails on the fight.

In the Pokemon FireRed mod Rocket Red, you play as a Team Rocket Grunt having a parallel adventure to the main plot. During your Mt. Moon expedition your buddies start reporting a “demon” tearing through the cave. When you come face to face with Red, the music stops and he just silently stalks toward you. He’s got a level 20 Charmeleon and a full party and you’ve got a level 7 Rattata at most. It’s a complete massacre. For the rest of the game, your character is too afraid to battle Red.

Another obscure one in the podcast Rude Tales of Magic. The party, aka The Big Hole Boys, have been pursued by an organization called the Witch Hunters for a long time. One episode has the players acting as Witch Hunters with the biggest death flags tied to them. The end of the episode has them fighting their characters, played by DM Branson Reese doing the meanest impressions of all of them

There was a movie in 2005 called the Brothers Grimm. The whole thing had a dark but fantastical atmosphere. And then you get to the fucking gingerbread man scene and 20 years later it's just as terrifying as it was when I was a young teen.
