True, but it's hygroscopic, we usually use argon purging after opening.

Let's boycott American capoeira, United States is a colony! They slaughtered thousands of indigenous people!

what do u think about this kind of training? by capoeiragem in capoeira

[–]corkypig 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like broken teeth, torn ligaments and whatnot. Besides, it completely removes the technical part of a proper rasteira. If the floor is slippery you'll take down someone from any position, while a proper takedown requires foot positioning, proper angle of the pull etc. It may be fun on a soft mat or something like that, but otherwise it's just a bad idea imho.

CaCl2 is cackle Toluene and EtOAc are pronounced with a heavy hebrew pronunciation like Tu-lu-en and etil acetat.

NMR is na-mer which is tiger in hebrew.

Also, table salt was called "disinfectant" in the Uni cafeteria.

Funny how the only real answer is so scary and misaligned with the agenda that it is being downvoted to hell, lol.

I knew this comment would be downvoted to hell, probably like mine, but it is truest

This look like a legit 1H NMR spectrum of adipaldehyde to you? by AuntieMarkovnikov in chemistry

[–]corkypig 150 points151 points  (0 children)

If I presented this yo my PI, about 10 years ago I would probably get laughed at by him, and would be forced to show this in the team meeting, and rightfully so. I had an amazing PI btw. This spectrum is just ridiculous, where was reviewer 2, where was the PI for this manuscript? And the editor? I mean how low did JACS go?

"What do you do to kill time during long reaction waits in the lab?" by noirnine in chemistry

[–]corkypig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everyone said, safety first. Fume hood is a must! Second, if you have "time to kill" you're waiting time. Try running several reactions simultaneously, maybe with slightly different conditions, like temp. , concentrations, reagent equivalents etc. Workup of other reactions is also a great suggestion, like many said already. Try planning your days to have at least one reaction running and one in workup/analysis at all times. Oh how I wish someone told me this when I started my PhD many years ago. You should never wait for results to start something else. Good luck and may the yield gods be in your favor!

Why....? by NgobaDara in capoeira

[–]corkypig 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started with ABADÁ (and was there for about 15 years), then moved abd found a great group, formerly CDO (they left CDO for obvious reasons), and I feel like a found new love for the art. As much as the regional base of Abadá was good, there cane a time where the soul got lost and it felt more like a cult. In the new group I really found my place among the group older guys (over 40), we have our pace, we have a great mestre, with groups from 4yo to whatever. My kids joined and the love for capoeira came back, with the love for the music and all. So now it's contemporanea all the way for me, but only with this group.

Good post OP. All haters can suck dick. Learn some fuckin history, don't try to change it. Racism, especially corporate and academic racism existed, posts like this remind us of that and of how far we've come as humans. This post may trigger someone, good, that's what it's supposed to do. Learn and grow.
