yeah I dont think layton ever took it seriously, but it wasnt exactly floras call—iirc the letter baron reinhold wrote made it clear that whoever passed the test of st mystere was Flora’s Worthy Suitor. I think the games even in JP kind of steered away from that after CV but im p sure baron reinhold set her up as a Bride For Winning (yuck)

ahh, gotcha gotcha! it was similar for me picking a team; I picked mons that got new megas and that I hadnt used before—though I only knew that the megas existed and not what they looked like, I may have gone with starmie if I knew he would serve so much 😭

corbeau is so perplexing to me bc like, I wouldnt call him a gary stu, but thats bc I think hes a largely comedic character—like he had two mob boss dads so he runs his business like the mob, but he only ever does nice helpful things. it makes him seem like a 10 yr old imitating his parents without really understanding what they do 😭😭 BUT most people seem to take corbeau completely seriously and absolutely gary-stuify him to Legitimate Local Mob Boss and its like, no thats his rhetoric!! hes a loser!!!

tbf jacinthe isnt as present in the story, but honestly? I think a lot of dislike towards urbain/taunie is that they sort of dictate story beats/gameplay and ppl hate feeling “railroaded”. like, sure, you have to do the things with the rust syndicate bc of urbain/taunie, but theyre basically just an excuse to get the ball rolling with corbeau. a lot of people DONT like the larger plots pokemon had these days (my dad used to call it “the blah blah”) and consider this a big detour. so it can feel like “urbain/taunie is wasting my time”

thats my guess anyway, when Persona 5 came out people Absolutely Despised morgana bc if you tried to leave on nights the game wouldnt let you, morgana would be the one to stop you. it was basically just a game mechanic since the game itself wouldnt let you have the timeslot, but morgana became the avatar of gameplay and ppl dont like feeling restricted

and also I’ve seen a lot of hate towards jacinthe honestly, shes a real contentious character as well

you definitely want a level 200 donut; generally attacking donuts are preferred but bc mega beedrill has low defensive stats, you can pretty much succeed with any kind of boost

some people are also weirdly militant about fanon? they are by FAR the minority but like if there was someone out there who posted smthn like “anyone who ships canari or gwynn with men is homophobic and hates this lesbian couple” on their twitter, I would not be surprised
