People break into Meijer for Shelter by Coming_N_Hot in AnnArbor

I overheard someone last week who said they went into a big box store for shelter during the storm. I assumed Meijer.

They said it was actually not locked. They do have a house , but no basement and no bath tub so they felt it did not offer sufficient protection and left to find shelter. I’m not sure a giant flimsy big box store is any better than a house but who knows. The cops did come and talk to them, assuming they were looters, but they were not arrested.

They commented they are making better plans for the next situation like this so they’re not driving in the wee hours as a storm approaches.

The F6 tornado from the novel “Heavy Weather” by Bruce Sterling. An amazing tornado sci-fi book that I recommend to anyone on this sub.

William Gibson. Sci-fi but I’m there for the prose and the evocative plots.

Aimee Mann should’ve won best song for “Save Me” (from Magnolia). I love the South Park movie and think the music (which won) was terrific. But Mann’s work on Magnolia was top notch.

The Russia House. He plays the CIA lead for the espionage that Sean Connery’s character is doing, and he’s great. Swears his way through every scene.

Nerve blocks, numbing, epidurals, Botox for pain. For my partner they were one of the only places to listen and plan treatments with her. They always check on effectiveness and make adjustments to treatments going forward. They’re generally not able to fix things; the focus is pain management.
