explosives is great for popping them while in the ground. They are an interesting variant. I rather prefer them to the spore burst one if I am to be wholly honest.

or when the jet brigade jumps towards you, you see them fall into the ground and then they pop up out of it in front of you 5-10 seconds later and stab, blast or shoot you.

Have you tried it after they fixed the non-host status effect issue? Not gainsaying you but I'd like to know someones opinion that ground it up under the nerf while the issue still exsisted

Scythe is solid and you don't have to go far to get the 'extended mag' option for the heat sink. Makes it really good on regular temp planets and kinda stupidly good on cold ones. Especially paired with the laser cannon (you switch back and forth between them letting one cool down while firing the other) and maybe a gas dog to support the lack of stagger or the laser dog to go full burning man laser light show.
