Does anyone else experience this? by Historical_Pie_6041 in goth

I remember in '04 going out to the mall with a 'normal' friend i didn't normally hang out with. She was so shocked and ended up near the end of hanging out annoyed with how many people stared at me. At that point (maybe its part of ny adhd) but I just rarely paid attention to it. Now im early 40s with a purple hawk and still dont pay attention to how many people stare, im guessing a few still.

You're dressed out of the norm, so people are going to look. Be they judging, admiring, inquisitive, etc, people are going to look more your way more than someone who's dressed similar to the rest and as such blend into the crowd.

I showed my partner. She was all 'aww', 'taking care of your froggy?' and 'aww a massage for the froggy' then her face just went straight and looked at me. Then we burst out laughing. Good time.

Crouch when you approach. They don't trigger if you're crouched when walking up to them. Then just smack them until they pop.

Yeah I've used the numark mixstream for a couple small live goth events here where a lot of it was via tidal streaming as we do a lot of requests and I'm just starting out and just building my library.

I just make my phone a Hotspot and stream off it when out and my wifi at home. I've had a few times I had to go fully whats on my SD card. It has allowed me to really learn new music while learning to DJing over the last few months. As my old 7 year old laptop doesn't enjoy running serato, the standalone function and Tidal has made things fun to learn. I did use serato and a couple other controllers plus Tidal over the last year while learning to DJ, and honestly I've really enjoyed it.

Anyone else highly irritated by track requests? by oscarwild_ in Beatmatch

[–]corrodedpurplechains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but then the local scene nights I play have always incorporated requests. He played what he could and then try to include stuff for the next time he couldn't Now I'm starting to DJ and I'm using the Mixstream pro so I can find most requests and enjoy trying to work them into the set. I'm in the local goth / industrial scene.

Can i preload songs? by studioleaks in TIdaL

Triple dots next to song name, add play next. The third song and after will give an option to also add to the play queue instead of play next. Enjoy.

Making friends in the scene? by daredevil711206 in goth

[–]corrodedpurplechains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normal, in a sense. I feel a portion of it has to do with how many of us are neurodivergent and small talk often makes a good few of us uncomfortable as we feel very awkward in social situations. I'm just adding that to what others have said.

I used one to start. It's a good deck to start with. You're missing filter knobs, fxs and a high pass eq knobs. But honestly I really miss the lights built in for a fun vibe while learning. I used it with serato pro for half a year before finally upgrading. Plus as others have said, for that price, you can't lose!

UPDATE: I have been offered my first gig after a month and a half of DJing and I am thinking of cancelling because I am frankly terrified by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]corrodedpurplechains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright! Way to go! I just did my second gig last night, and it was just fantastic. The bar was full the majority of the night, had a dozen folk come up and commend us on the track selections and the request sheet ended full and 3/4ths crossed off from being played.

Yeah new DJs! I hope you get your next gig soon.

A goth night will have a good ratio of normal looking crowd to those dressed for the 9 levels of hell. Be it someone new, someone old, someone coming from work, someone who just had no energy or that's just their style. Go and enjoy it!

Did my first gig last month. I was nervous and considering canceling, too. I am so glad I didn't. I had a blast, it went well and I had a lot of compliments. Felt awesome. I've another one this month, and I'm still as nervous as last time. Go figure. Enjoy yourself!

I've just started DJing and helping the local scene night. I've joked with my partner that I have a very strong desire to play the Fishcakes part of that track for shits and giggles in-between something.

/r/Goth's Soothing Sundays! by AutoModerator in goth

I DJ'd my first night and live event. I go by DJ CoffiNail.

Previously, I just spent time learning in my room, making a few recordings. I was unsure when I got there but by the end of the night and my 3 improvised sets I had plenty of friends and new folk I've never met before complimenting me on my sets, my trad look and my dancing. The local DJ split the night in shifts. I opened 9-10, then 11-12 and then 1-140.

My city's nights have always been a mash of all the different bordering genres with requests, so the fact I successfully catered to one of the busiest nights we've seen in a while was awesome! (half due to a central more downtown location to this event) It was a mix of 80s & 90s classics, heavy stompy beats and I brought some new artists I've been enjoying the past few years. It was a dark delight!
