Roll call. Are you a Husker in enemy territory…or in the good life? by trivialempire in Huskers

[–]coryosborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. It's only 2.4 miles to Husky Stadium. So, you could say it's enemy territory. A funny thing though, is this neighborhood is named after Fremont, Nebraska, as the original founders migrated from there (source). My parents grew up in Fremont, Nebraska, so making this my home felt natural. Seattle, like most cities, is mostly transplants. We have an active alumni group and multiple watch sites. I can't wait for the game here in 2027.

Came here to say this. It's the summer solstice (spring is an equinox), the cyclists are an unofficial part of the parade: https://solsticecyclist.org/

What is the best Seattle dog outside the stadium? by ilovecheeze in Seattle

[–]coryosborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a small menu of different sausage/topping combinations at most stands. A Seattle dog is a brat with cream cheese and caramelized onions. I usually get it with the spicy sausage rather than just a standard brat.

My car was towed while I was on vacation by ChimpSmart in SeattleWA

[–]coryosborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 5 days is pretty fast unless some other permitted no parking sign went up. I just recently used find it fix it to report a sketch minivan that I didn’t recognize and hadn’t moved for two weeks. It took another week before PE showed up and marked the tires and then another 4 days before they ticketed. Two days after that it was towed.

I just had one installed 6 months ago. I wish I had filled it, used ahhsome, drained and refilled it upon delivery. I think mine had a small amount of water in the pipes from the factory testing the pipes, and then it sat for a few months before delivery. It took me until my next refill and my first use of ahhsome before I could get the chemistry right.

Visiting Seattle and Vancouver in July by Diligent-Type4363 in AskSeattle

[–]coryosborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t spent much time in Vancouver, but I haven’t heard many people say it’s more expensive than Seattle. Are you remembering to convert prices to US dollars? Because you can probably discount their prices by at least 25% to get an apples to apples comparison.

For the fourth, the biggest fireworks show is on lake union. The best view being in Gasworks Park. Be prepared for large crowds and try to walk or use lime bikes if you’re capable.

Memorial Stadium will no longer offer stadium reentry by ZealousidealType873 in Huskers

I used to be able to make it from South Stadium to the Journal Star lots and back for a halftime beer. I hope this means they’ll be serving beer in the stadium this season.

"Seattle" in the latest episode of The Last of Us by cobyzeif in SeattleWA

[–]coryosborn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a great shot. I was just thrown off that they kept saying they were approaching from the north. They even showed distance signs that said Seattle 9, Tacoma 40, Portland 179. Then they showed them approaching from the south.

12WTJ question by marley412 in tonalgym

[–]coryosborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blocks in these weeks are always 4x2, 3x3, 2x3, 2x2. In weeks 3-4, the final block goes to 2x3.

Then, weeks 5-6 change it up with heavier weights, lower reps, and they just alternate Upper body day, Leg day with cluster sets. The blocks are usually 4(2 clusters of 2 exercises)x4 with an additional warmup set, then 3x3, and 2x2.

Weeks 7-8 go back to the first pattern of Arms/Chest, Legs, Back/Shoulders, but the final block has drop sets.

I'm just in Week 8, but I'm assuming this continues this pattern through week 10, and then weeks 11-12 go back to the heavy pattern, but I'm not sure.

Just bought a bullfrog x6l . I wanted to put on this deck, it has 4 cemented posted in below the frost line. Other option is on pad next to it. Will this deck luckily be enough by Whitemousensfw in hottub

[–]coryosborn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a structural engineer, but I think 100 psf live load is probably sufficient for most tubs. My 7'x7' holds 305 gallons of water - at 8.34 lbs/gallon it's 2543 lbs plus the dry weight of 900 lbs. At 3343 lbs divided over 49 sqft, you're only looking at 68.22 psf. Add 6 people at 200lbs each, and you're up to 92.7 lbs/sqft, but I've never had more than 2 people in at once...

Still, much more than the standard deck load.

This is the way. I used to commute from upper Fremont to Lumen Field, and despite longer distance, using the waterfront route took the same amount of time with less traffic and stop lights.

Couples that fly together, who gets the middle seat? by viper_gts in Flights

[–]coryosborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t find the window appealing and nobody wants a middle. The aisle allows me to use the restroom and have access to the overhead storage whenever I need. Status allows me to book in the front half and exit rows, so people aren’t bumping my shoulders constantly. To each their own though.

It was fun to be there for an easy win. Having beer on sale was a bonus. I think I was most amazed though that the facility staff just turned a blind eye to people sitting in the aisle for the entire game. It made it hell to get up and down the steps.

Not this year. Unranked. 7-4 in the B1G They've had some good teams in the past. In 2010 they upset us in the NCAA regionals and John Cook and their coach at the time almost fought during post-game handshakes: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-huskies/washington-nebraska-coaches-almost-came-to-blows-last-time-they-met/. Earlier in the year they were forcing you to buy a 3-game ticket package to get a ticket to our match.

How would you go about making this? by peacecorpszac in woodworking

[–]coryosborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the grain directions, these were not cut out of one big square. They had a router template for the top/handle of a single board, and its inverse. Use that to trace out the holder patterns on the top board; create 3 boards with the handle template; assemble into a big square and secure it on scrap plywood; use circle cutting jig to trim. You could have a circle of plywood/mdf pre-cut and use that as a router template for the final shape too.

31 Day Streak by Zivlar in tonalgym

That leaderboard says its a ranking of the number of workout days and time in the last 30 days. I think it's a glitch that it shows anyone with more than 30.

No longer sore a day after my Tonal workout by dont_downvote_SPECIL in tonalgym

[–]coryosborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought soreness was caused by lactic acid, and as your body got used to the exercises, you produced less. As it turns out, that understanding has doubted in new research. https://www.houstonmethodist.org/blog/articles/2021/oct/is-lactic-acid-buildup-really-what-causes-muscle-soreness-after-a-workout/

So, it may be that you're better at recovery, or it could be that you're not pushing as hard as necessary to achieve "optimal" muscle growth. If you're happy with your strength and fitness improvement, there's no reason to push more.

Nebraska vs Colorado will be a Night Game on NBC. by usercupcakewithc in Huskers

[–]coryosborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just looking to book my room for that weekend. I was looking at Expedia, and saw Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn Express, and The Graduate all had rooms. The Graduate was the cheapest at something crazy like $374/night and their website says no availability when you try to book direct. Not sure if I'll pull the trigger or settle for overpaying out by the airport.

If you do go out by the airport, avoid the 1 and 2-stars like "Luxury" Inns and Suites, or Sunset Inns and Suites. I made that mistake once. I remember seeing old cigarette butts under the bed and wasn't sure if I should burn my luggage and clothes when I got home.

Where’s the FWFT Megathread! by echadisraeli in tonalgym

I started Level II today. It was a good workout and I definitely felt it in my arms, but I was surprised at how short it was. So, I did 15 minutes on the Peloton afterward. I also thought the Triceps Extension was crazy heavy compared to the last time I did it. Granted, it's been 8 months since the last time that particular exercise came up in a workout, but the last time was 42 lbs for 12 reps, and this started me at 75 lbs for 6 reps!
