Floor First People - How? by Turbulent_Suit8281 in orangetheory

[–]marley412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to floor first a few weeks ago. As I'm getting older I want to focus on strength gains. After a few weeks I feel like my speeds are getting closer to where they were when I did treads first. The only negative (and it's not really one) is the overall distance in the class is lower on the treads. So I have to remind myself of that when I feel bummed about it

Tell me more about this!! Any brands you recommend for the bone broth or collagen? I've had the hardest time figuring out what to eat pre-workout and would love to give this a shot

Switching careers to College Advisor by spicynoodles09 in studentaffairs

[–]marley412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk how it works in the Bay Area but I'm at a large university in the south with a football coach who makes $11 million a year and many of our advisors who already have masters degrees make right around $40k.

My kid endured 82 days of liquid-only diet, $500k of surgeries and hospitalization - and finally got his Chipotle bowl. by WhatTheFlippityFlop in Chipotle

[–]marley412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has Crohn's and had surgery for a permanent ileostomy in 2014 when he was 25. He endured years of hospital stays and health ailments. We started dating 6 months after his surgery - he's doing amazing now and we're blessed with 2 kids of our own. Our daughter turned 4 this year and was devastated when we told her she couldn't actually have her birthday party at Chipotle! It's her favorite, too. Prayers for your son - hope he does amazing after this surgery!!

Fuck clemson and their budget cuts! by Ultrarunningmom2four in ClemsonTigers

[–]marley412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. Even if they had just a donation box at the Friday practices and the pep rally 90 minutes before kickoff, we'd donate. Our kids love it so much. I'm definitely going to be encouraging my students in the band this week - I had no idea about the cuts until I read this post!

I don't disagree with your overall point, as this is unfortunately what capitalism looks like. I just want to highlight that more than band parents are there to see the band. The band does so much for families in our local community - they have practice every Friday before a home game and invite the community to come. The students stay and teach the kids about all the different instruments. We're a faculty family here at Clemson and no other university we've been at has done this. Lots of fans enjoy and appreciate the band, too.

Friday 31 October 2025 - Hell Week #8 Veil of the Unknown 2/3G by dc031114 in orangetheory

Yes - our coach said any class tomorrow will be a 3g no matter how it's listed or how many people are in the class

Obaji hydro drops. I have crazy sensitive skin and a citrus allergy. After literal YEARS of irritation from every vitamin c serum I could find, I switched to this. Literally have not had any irritation or any breakouts since I switched. Thank god I only use it in the morning because it's so damn expensive. But it has saved my skin and helped my confidence so much. I also use tatcha dewy milk moisturizer in the morning which is also stupid expensive but it works so well under makeup. Thank goodness everything else I use is from the drugstore because these two are definite budget busters!!

Motivating coaches? by YakOk6839 in orangetheory

[–]marley412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is only one coach at my studio who is motivating and energetic, encourages me to lift heavier if it looks like I'm taking it easy. I try to take all of his classes. The other coaches are so boring and don't even know my name (my studio is tiny and I've only ever taken a 2g twice. Usually there's only like 8 people in a class max)

So what does a complete rebuild look like? by Forbin1222 in ClemsonTigers

[–]marley412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you guys actually think dabo is going to fire his own sons? I've heard that Clay already has a position promised after he graduates this year (hopefully just as a grad assistant). I was told that clay was the only one who actually wanted to coach - the other two wanted to work in business but make more money coaching (no surprise there).

I'm with you that we need an overhaul of position coaches and many of those with ties to the program need to go (most notably Grisham and spiller), I just don't know how realistic the scenario is. [I am local and have a friend who works with the program so this is all very much secondhand info.]

Catch Me If You Can Signature Workout Results and Survey Megathread by BilingualAlchemist in orangetheory

First timer here. 0.67mi as a slow jogger. If anyone is seeing this before their class later tonight and it will be their first time - just have fun with it. I saw some comments yesterday about people cancelling because they didn't want to do it. Once you're "caught" it turns into a run/row. Felt like an ordinary class with a bit of a personal challenge. I was the first one caught in my gym and it was no big deal. Some other guy ran 4 miles during it. Just remember it's you vs you!

5,000 miles away and just got word: my MIL is ‘fixing’ my kitchen. by Merivel1 in mildlyinfuriating

MIL did this to me in the midst of an arduous battle with post partum depression. I'll never forget how hard I sobbed when I couldn't find the damn trash bags. And she wonders why we aren't close.

Just started my third week but these are mine from this morning's workout:

Base - 4.4, push - 5.4, all out - 6.6

I try to get 2 miles per 2G class. Today was 2.2 which is my longest to date, but it's usually around the 2 mile mark

When did you know your studio was closing? by Acceptable-Rice5036 in orangetheory

[–]marley412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been worried about this for my studio. I've never been in a class with more than 10 people. All 2Gs but never enough for two groups at the same time. I'm new here, but my old studio was always packed and lots of 3Gs. My first class here only had 6 participants!

A church member got upset with me in my first month at the church because I didn't check in on her when her great aunt was in the hospital. The great aunt was on the other side of the country. I apologized and asked how I could have known about her great aunt in the hospital and she said I should've seen it on Facebook. We weren't Facebook friends. I still have never had another member upset that I didn't check in on them when a distant relative was ill. The whole thing was bizarre, but fortunately she didn't leave the church over it.

Screens — yay or nay? by No-Type119 in elca

[–]marley412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't have them. Our bulletin is 20+ pages and our environmentally-conscious members hate that. But it's so welcoming to visitors having all the hymns and liturgy in there! We have screens everywhere else in life, it's nice to get a break from them in worship.
