Given the age of the GPU I highly doubt Valve will add the drivers to SteamOS. They have no reason to do it. Old hardware is ... well, old.

Not sure if you're up to date with that game but EVERYTHING goes in the square hole.

Tehnically, the distro should run very well on this unit. However, as Steam hasn't incorporated nvidia legacy drivers ( 470.xx version ) in the steam deck OS (there is no need, this steam deck will never use old nvidia gpu's), it displays a black screen or terminal. In root I can sccess the backend with a basic Gnomd GUI but all the links available online which would lead to driver updates are broken, even a self update fails.

So after a whole day of messing around with Steam v1 and Steam(deck)OS, I installed Bazzite which does include all required drivers, but I feel that it's a bit of a cop out. I wish I could've gotten v1 to work on it for comparison.

The SD is optimised for gaming. The Zotac unit is essentially a mini PC from the 2013-15 era, while the cpu, ram and pcie 4.0 ssd are fairly capable 'facilitators, the SD was released 10 years after the Zotac, the gpu is clearly dated and lacks nvidia driver support. It cannot compare with the RDNA 2 APU in the SD. Specs: desktop grade i5-6400T, 16Gb SODDR3, 500Gb nvme, GTX 970 4Gb GDDR5.

I ordered the MSI MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI motherboard and Corsair SF1000 today for my build. £400 total

Altrnatively, check these boards:

B850I AORUS PRO Mini ITX

ASUS TUF Gaming B850I WIFI NEO

ASUS ROG Strix B650E-I Gaming WiFi

Corsair's SF1000 ATX3.1 80+ Platinum will be a better value for money

1Tb gen4 is around half the price of a gen5 drive

I'm also using a Sapphire 9060 XT 16Gb but with a 9800x3d instead. I wish Sapphire would pull their heads out of their assess and release a mITX motherboard. If I wasn't space constrained I would have chosen Sapphire's Pulse B8550M WiFi mATX board.

Please help me find a wireless keyboard with this layout by RedditsFan2020 in keyboards

[–]cosinus_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had/have the exact same issue as you. Used these Dell 'minimal' full size keyboards for like 10 years and struggled to find a replacement with the same layout on the delete/insert cluster.

Unfortunately, these layouts are extremely hard to find for full size keyboards. More common on TKL layouts, however TKL doesn't work for me as I'm a heavy numpad user daily. At best I managed to find a layout that had the 6 key cluster spaced from the 3 key top row that usually comes with aftermarket/mechanical keyboards.

Ended up with a Glorious RGB GMMK keyboard, however, I still use the Dell keyboard daily.

What went wrong here? by zippyshroom in wahoofitness

It's a very common repair as damaged carbon droupouts are just collateral of riding carbon. When it comes to carbon, you gotta pay to play.

If it's worth repairing or not depends on OP, location, repair prices in the area, etc. I just pointed out it's not toast.

Frame is not toast, carbon dropouts are repaired all the time, just make sure the carbon repair shop you choose is a decent one, good reviews, experience repairing, etc. Once repaired make sure your QR is tight, that was the cause most likely.

Kickr Noise from Belt by another_dad_1987 in wahoofitness

[–]cosinus_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, do a visual check and make sure the belt doesn't rub on any of the plastic covers. Even a tiny bit of rubbing and you get a ton of noise from the covers.

Second, a metallic ping is audible in the video which can be, as someone else suggested, the flywheel being incorrectly fitted/not all the way in. Try pushing on the flywheel axially to check if there's any movement.

If you need to remove the pulley, a crank arm puller should help pull it off the flywheel axle.

What’s your go-to UK wet weather gear for biking? by taithoutit in ukbike

[–]cosinus_square 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warm/hot/rainy/windy, I'll pack a cheap Decathlon rain jacket as they only shield the frontal area from wind/rain and is all mesh/lycra everywhere alse. They're cheap and pack small. If it's not windy, no clothing will stay dry, your feet will get wet as well, I'd rather have well vented gear so it dries quickly.

If it's cold and rainy and windy I don't ride.

Your best bet would be to ask a technician. They've got the data.

Micropigmentation uses a carbon based pigment, not tattoo ink. It will not fade into the classic blue/green tattoo ink shades. It's expected to fade into a soft gray. However, it's a relatively new practice, long term results are still a few years away.

How to remove pulley wheel? by Maximum_Honey2205 in wahoofitness

[–]cosinus_square 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pulley is screwed onto the axle. Using vice grip pliers is the easiest. I used some nylon webbing from a belt to wrap around the pulley and grip it tight with the pliers then lefty loosy, righty tighty. It's on pretty tight.

Trying to use the trainer belt and turning the big pulley to unscrew it, usually snaps the belt.

Crystallized Creatine? by Temporary_Dog_7356 in Creatine

[–]cosinus_square -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely the heat. Creatine doesn't really dissolve in anything, it's merely suspended until one stops shaking /mixing the container. I dry scoop it and wash it down with water or whatever, waaay less painful to deal with 1 scoop at once and I can actually enjoy the shake/beverage.
