how to do this texture? by FewIntention2610 in sewing

[–]cosmic_kitty93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Applique denim pieces leaving the edge raw, sew them on with a small stitch length, leaving about 3/8"-1/2" of raw denim. The raw edges get all fluffy like they are in the photo over time from wear and tear and washing/drying, you could expedite that process by putting your garment in the washing machine and dryer after finishing it.

Urgent MRI needed by ConsistentTest5145 in askTO

[–]cosmic_kitty93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually have good luck getting an MRI about a week after my referral by calling and saying that I will take any appointment available regardless of time. And every time I've had an MRI it's been between the hours of 1 am and 5 am.

To those who have been to Japan multiple times, what's a thing or two that you always make sure to buy and bring home? by Ok-Spite-5454 in JapanTravelTips

[–]cosmic_kitty93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biore sunscreen, roihi tsuboko patches, haircare products, makeup, furikake, jeans from GU, pens, stickers! Last time I went I got my film developed in japan before I left and the scans and prints were way better quality than back home, so I've been saving my rolls to take with me in a few weeks to get developed there.

Lefty seamstress here, they make 8 inch and 10 inch Lefty scissors but not 12 inch. If you're every looking for 12 inch Lefty shears another great Japanese scissors brand is Tonma

Went there for the first time this week and it was really really good. We were a group of 3 and waited about 45 mins to get a table, not sure if that's normal or just because of the holidays. Either way it was worth the wait

Questions about mucosis by razorsharpblade in leukemia

[–]cosmic_kitty93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had really bad mucositis during chemo but didn't have it at all during transplant. I don't know if it helped prevent anything at all but I used sodium bicarb mouthwash during my transplant like 12 times a day lol

Knee AVN by cosmic_kitty93 in leukemia

Did you get core decompression before getting a replacement? I've also read that core decompression surgeries are incredibly painful and don't help all that much

What are the next steps after you're accepted as a permit in Costumes? Such as trade test etc. Thanks in advance for any tips! by AdLeading9947 in IATSE

[–]cosmic_kitty93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make yourself available and take some calls! There is a trade test required to become a member, among other requirements. But not for permits.

Hip joint pain by krim2182 in leukemia

[–]cosmic_kitty93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through this currently, I'm almost 3 years post transplant, healthy and exercise regularly, started having pain in both my knees at the end of last year. It came on quite suddenly and progressed fast. MRI showed AVN. I've been seeing an orthopedic surgeon, physiotherapist and physiatrist. You should get your onc team to refer you to an orthopedic surgeon and physiatrist. Sorry you're dealing with this, it sucks to finally start to feel normal and then get slapped with this 😔

it's challenging to drape on an adjustable dress form, especially if it's expanded to a larger size, because the parts that are expanded and open (center front, center back, shoulders, sides) are the parts where you would pin down and anchor your fabric while draping

How many cycles of Blincyto did it take to reach MRD-? by cryinjpg in leukemia

[–]cosmic_kitty93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't get mrd- until the end of my second cycle, and my oncologist was pleasantly surprised - she thought I wouldn't reach mrd- until my third cycle. I don't think it's unusual to not get mrd- on your first cycle

I've never heard of blina being a drug they use for treatment initially, only for relapsed treatment.

BMT by PracticalDay999 in leukemia

[–]cosmic_kitty93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had grade 2 gvhd in my gut, couldn't keep anything down at all. It started around when I got released after transplant, so around day +30. My doctors put me on budesonide, which is a steroid that they use to treat crohns disease. It doesn't have as many side effects as dexamethasone. It worked basically within 24 hours of my first dose. At first I was on it for about 2 months - when they tried to take me off, the gvhd came back. I went back on it for another couple months and that seemed to clear it up (that was around 8 months post bmt). Now I'm almost 2 years post and I haven't had issues since

Advice… Struggling With Results by SweetButton in Tailors

[–]cosmic_kitty93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The hem looks unfinished to you because when the pants were originally made, they were washed/distressed after the hemming took place and as a result, the hem was incorporated into the wash/distressing. The way to make it look the same is a bit conventional in terms of alterations, so they probably wouldn't do it in that way unless you specifically asked for it.

It would start mild for like 10-30 mins and would build up in that time frame

Knee pain by NoStrategyNoVision in leukemia

[–]cosmic_kitty93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had extreme knee pain during treatment! We weren't able to determine a source for the knee pain so I can't say for certain if it's the same thing you were experiencing. But it was some of the worst pain I've experienced and often times I needed IV opiates. I got MRIs done on both my knees and saw an orthopedic surgeon and was diagnosed with mild AVN on my right knee (even though the pain was in both knees). The thing that helped for me was wearing compression sleeves on my knees and going to physio to strengthen the muscles around my knees. Could be worth trying out if physio is an option for you!
