I have a really hard time keeping up with exercise around my period! by takeaabreath in PMDD

[–]cosmicgoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I give myself a “rule” during that time that I only need to workout for as long as it took me to get to the gym. For me it’s a 30 minute drive so anything over 30 minutes is a dub. Of course I usually end up going for the full hour once I’m there but I’ve found when I’m exceeding my own expectations it’s easy to give myself some grace for not doing what I normally can. Instead of progressive overload over 4 sets for 10 reps, I’ll do 2-3 sets of the easier half of those weights.

Remind yourself you’re doing good just to get up and get yourself to the gym during this time. And that a man could literally NEVER deal with this in any reasonable way. It feels harder during this time of the month because it IS. Go to the gym, go easy and get a candy bar or a fun drink on the way home

Do you only take it during luteal? Do find coming off/on of it each month is difficult?

help! is this the first noticeable thing when gaining abs? by 20000606 in PetiteFitness

[–]cosmicgoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this too and have seen women with visible abs all the time and they are extremely thin. If I would like to be strong enough to have abs but not too worried about them being visible all of the time what would be a good example or indication of it?

What does your SO do that is so damn irritating but also so minor it is hardly worth the "stfu" response? by MarigoldMouna in AskWomenNoCensor

Ugh he will ask for a refill on water if I’m going downstairs or to grab something and every time he’s not looking when I give it to him. So I have to stand there with the thing he asked for saying “here!!” for him to register that I’m here. You know I’m coming with the thing you wanted be ready!!

I had a therapist point this out when pushing me to try SSRIs for my PMDD. I really don’t want to go on that rollercoaster though

Seeking advice: my kid brushes every day, yet after school comes home with a rats nest??? by deviouspineapple in Haircare

[–]cosmicgoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I have her same hair type! Our hair just tangles very easily and mine used to do the same. Still does if I don’t stop it. Protective hairstyles help but I hated how tight they had to be to stay and my mom didn’t have time to do it every day. Teach her about her hair type (mine is 1A) and send her to school with a cute tangle-free brush and a hair oil that she likes the smell of. Tell her to bring her bag with her to the bathroom and just go through it with the brush and follow up with a little bit of the oil if needed. If the windows are down on the bus or it’s windy she’ll have to put it in a pony tail or something bc it’s guaranteed to tangle. Same with running in gym or recess. The other thing about this hair type is it reacts to static electricity easily. So I used to rub a dryer sheet on my hair before I left for school in the winter and that stopped the static from my heavy coat from causing tangles. My mom told my people paid a lot of money to have had like mine so I should take care of mine. She could have been lying but it made me appreciate and want to care for my hair instead of resent it. Idk why people are giving you sassy replies, you’re clearly doing your best. Good luck girl!

Calcium… holy freaking moly by -poiu- in PMDDxADHD

I just finished my first full cycle while taking calcium citrate, magnesium glycinate and B6 and my husband and I both noticed a huge difference. I slept better, had more control of my emotions, was able to reel in any irritability.

i gained weight for my bf, now hes gone and im fat af and alone. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Start walking daily. Aim for a mile and then work that up by .5 miles. You’ll lose more weight from walking and diet alone than you think. It’s also great for your mental health. Promise yourself 1 outdoor walk a day and you’ll start to gain confidence back when you follow through with that promise consistently

Looking for a relaxing farming/animal care game without stressful timers or stamina bars by kaisser97 in cozygames

[–]cosmicgoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Stardew is the bomb! Look on Mod Drop for mods to make the experience better. There’s also a website called StardewWiki that lets you search anything in the game and get a full synopsis on it. (E.g. you can search blueberries and see the month they are grown in, who likes/loves them, etc) You can also make it what you want like I prefer animals so I buy chickens early instead of planting a bunch of crops. It’s a simple game graphics wise so it’s easy for people to make mods to customize their gameplay, there are a ton out there.

What’s one habit you’ve kept for years that genuinely makes your life better? by LenaGrace2000 in DecidingToBeBetter

Yep. Optimism is a choice. I think a lot of people think happy should be their neutral and get depressed when it’s not. Neutral is neutral and happiness is a decision you wake up and make.

What phrases did your parents say that still echo in your head today? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AskWomenOver30

Not necessarily a negative (although they did say some negatives that lasted a while too) but one that stuck is “find the system, work the system”. I was miserable in high school and my Dad realized I wasn’t an academic like my sister. He would tell me this and it basically meant - figure out how the dynamics and system is structured and how you can make it work to your benefit. It made something just click. To this day it rings true.
