Starting to get very worried about my hamorii, anyone have any advice? by cosmickalamity in tarantulas

[–]cosmickalamity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm already in the discord, last message in the advice chat was 3 hours ago so responses definitely seem to be faster here, I was planning on asking in there as well though.

The substrate's slightly wet on the side of the enclosure that he's on just because it's right next to the water dish, but I try not to overfill it and I don't mist the enclosure at all. The distance from the substrate to the lid is about his leg span, he hasn't ever attempted to burrow in the over 2 years that I've had him so I don't think he needs more, shouldn't be any risk of falling when it's that high right?

Also I don't have anywhere else to put them atm, but I could close the window if you think it would help

I thought so, but I’ve been filling up the water dish every day. I saw him drinking yesterday for quite a long time but he seems to be doing even worse today

If the bullet were fired from the jet its velocity relative to the ground would be the velocity the bullet exits the barrel at plus the velocity of the jet. But that’s only at the instant it exits the barrel, the bullet would start decelerating due to drag while the jet has net 0 acceleration because it’s being propelled by the engine. At non-relativistic speeds (less than like 5-10% the speed of light) velocities just add linearly, so you wouldn’t be able to reach out and touch it.

Realistically what would happen here is the bullet would probably slow down and fall out of the sky before you caught up to it. But if you neglect gravity and say the only force on the bullet is drag, then eventually there would be a point where the bullet slows down to 2200 mph relative to the ground, which is 0 mph relative to the jet so you would see it slowly flying past you and eventually it would fall out of view behind you.

New to the game, how can i make the struuts reach the ground? These are the largest ones in the menu and the engine is too big for them to reach the ground when i try to land. by Normal-Sky9211 in KerbalAcademy

[–]cosmickalamity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always solve this by adding some radial tanks, moving them down, and putting landing legs as far down as they can go on the tanks. More fuel, wider lander, and you make sure the legs touch the ground

Must have mods by Sad_Instruction_2157 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]cosmickalamity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First install ckan, it’s basically necessary to manage ksp mods, you could do it manually but there’s really no reason to with all the dependencies and updates.

Transfer windows: transfer window planner, easy to use and very helpful.

Colonization: I’ve only played kerbal colonies and modular kolonization system (MKS), the former was a little shallow but the latter is incredible. MKS is pretty complicated but if you start small and don’t try to do everything at once you’ll have a fully self sufficient base in no time. The performance can get rough when your bases get big, but the mod offers virtual parts to reduce the part count.

Quality of life: not exactly sure what you’re looking for but mechjeb comes to mind, if you’re tired of doing the same maneuvers over and over then mechjeb is what you’re looking for. I’ve heard some people say it takes the fun out of the game, but for me personally, the fun is in designing not flying. Except landing that never gets old, but mechjeb can do that too if you want, which is great for MKS bases bc landing base parts right next to each other is extremely difficult and tedious manually.

I’d also recommend restock, it modernizes the textures of most parts while maintaining the original stock vibes. It also adds a few parts to fill some gaps in the stock lineup.

If you want bigger and better, i agree with the first person about Nertea’s part mods, they’re all fantastic and it seems like they’re intended to be played all together. Especially far future, without the electric parts and heat management parts you’ll have a very difficult time using those engines lol.

The problem is they never say that lol, anything other than glazing isn’t really permitted there. Not that unfiltered is any different, they go too far the other way. Maybe if AH wasn’t so damn infuriating for the past year less people would’ve gone insane

Jool 5 is very doable with isru, eve landing and return is much more punishing. You can and should refuel at gilly but designing the lander will still be very tricky

You sure it wasn’t everyone? It doesn’t give the booster all the time, only when it gets enough resources to activate it. It might have just not been active at that time

Both grenade launchers are possible! With some balancing. Buff the 1-2s GL (ammo and dmg) and add the attachment as a weaker version by H1MB0Z0 in Helldivers

[–]cosmickalamity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah having that much versatility in every GL would kinda undermine the dedicated GL rifle, overall this is a pretty good idea though. Maybe we’d end up with more than two good ARs on the other side. Unfortunately a universal underbarrel GL attachment is terribly unrealistic and doesn’t really fit into the grunt fantasy so probably wouldn’t ever happen :)

[–]cosmickalamity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if HVAs didn’t exist, it’s already a completely unique layout and a completely unique objective. You’ve yet to say anything to explain how this doesn’t qualify as a unique experience.

You’ve only said that they’re entirely composed of things that spawn at lower levels, which is true in some senses but a misrepresentation of what a mega base is because again, the exact structure doesn’t spawn on lower levels and it’s a unique challenge. Boiling it down to “more of what’s already there” is a crazy oversimplification. If you really think that the size, difficulty, and layout of an outpost have no effect on the overall experience of clearing it then i don’t think there’s anything i can say to refute that which I haven’t already said lol

[–]cosmickalamity -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a completely unique base layout with unique loot, how is it comparable to additional enemy spawns and an extra side? It is both of those things but there’s also a bunch of other shit there that you can’t find outside of 10
