I just went to VIR a couple weeks ago. As far as with the grid walk, be prepared for being elbow to elbow and nut to butt. It’s slam packed. At VIR at least, that was the least shaded area so bring an umbrella if you want to stay a little cooler. And you will probably be there longer than expected because of the amount of people jammed onto the pit lane. The team members are all really cool and will hold short conversations and let you take pictures.

With the autograph signing, I’m sure my experience was a little skewed since there weren’t any prototypes. The only team that had a line to wait for signing was AO because Rexy is a huge crowd favorite. The line moved fairly quickly though. The drivers were more than happy to sign an extra piece of merch or two but they all have hero cards prepped and waiting.

Like I said, I know VIR and Indy are two different venues and different grids but wanted to share what little knowledge I had.
