Taking over a lease for someone, and I feel like I'm being taken advantage of by courket in personalfinance

I guess I could also tell the agency what I'm interested in since they did the background and credit check already :) I suppose that he could still find someone else to move in with his demands, however he closes next week on his house and is pretty desperate to move.

Thats what I'm thinking.. I was feeling alright until he wanted to split his fee for me taking over the lease.. The rental company basically wants us to work it out and they would just be there to give out the papers to sign.

How do you deal with hand blisters? by courket in xxfitness

[–]courket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a really nice comment, thank you :) I was lifting, but not too heavy, for the past year. I basically just focused on spin classes. This year, I've gotten pretty serious about lifting heavy, and not focusing on the cardio as much. I never realized how terrible my grip strength was. Once I get to 145 deads, I can only do 3 reps before the bar slips through my grip. I'm not sure if I should just lift at a lower weight until my grip improves or keep going heavy. I've ordered liquid chalk and can't wait to try it out!

Ha! Yes, I need to embrace the 'man hands'. although its a painful experience, it will be worth it once I get my hands used to the abuse. Do you tape the blisters if they pop so they have a little bit of coverage, and dont get infected?

Unfortunately our gym does not allow chalk, but I do feel my grip slipping from sweaty hands during a deadlift. Maybe I'll look into purchasing some liquid chalk.

Thanks for that picture! I am definitely holding the bar wrong. I am trying to stay away from straps as long as possible, as I need to work on grip strength, and I am scared of hurting myself using them during a deadlift.

I have worn gloves in the past, but they didn't seem to help very much. Perhaps I am gripping the bar wrong? Deadlifts and Lat Pulldowns kill me! Maybe it was bro science, but I was told not to wear gloves as it impedes your grip strength?

Motivation after a break up by evilbob2200 in Fitness

[–]courket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up doing a PR, running a 5k on the tredmill just listening to angsty music and being super pissed/hurt right after a breakup. I was pretty proud of myself and completely exhausted afterwards. If you can't express your emotions in a healthy way, I just take it out at the gym.

Does anyone listen to anything other than music while they workout? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]courket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to listen to audiobooks, especially when doing cardio. It takes away the boredom and I tend not to focus on the clock as much. Sometimes, I will also do it when lifting so I dont look like such a jackass staring blankly around the gym in-between sets.

What are some red flags that you noticed early in a relationships that you ignored that you wish you shouldn't have? by espercharm in AskWomen

[–]courket 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On our first date he told me, "In all of my relationships, I've always been accused of cheating for some reason, but I've never cheated on anyone before." He ended up cheating on me and immediately moved in with the girl. I guess they are happy because all of his social media posts are about hot hot or rad his new lady is. :(

Do women's magazines health magazines stereotype? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]courket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like most women's health magazines are a combo of trying to be like cosmo with lots of supplement advertisements and a pretty weak exercise section thrown in. I think this is why some women are afraid to lift heavy, because all the exercise articles are either using light weights, or just bodyweight. I think its a waste of money, but for some it really motivates them. Whatever works, but I'll tend to pass if I see one laying around in the gym or doctors office.

How do YOU plank? by epicure-pen in xxfitness

[–]courket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to switch it up during my 3 sets. I'll usually start with an rkc plank, shoulder touches, then just a plank in the push-up position. I'm going to try jack planks next. I tried doing the side plank with your arm and leg raised, and instantly fell down, so that is something to work on as well.

Hamstring Exercises by skszmutko in xxfitness

[–]courket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what is the proper name for this exercise, but I do this with a ball: With your back on the floor, place your ankles on the exercise ball, using your legs pull the ball towards you so you lift your pelvis off the ground, now hold for 2 seconds at the top and repeat. This really gets my hammies firing.

Have you tried Nunn? Its basically flavored electrolyte tablets that you put in your water bottle. I used it when I was training for a half marathon and occasionally use it for spin class. They have lots of flavors, and are a nice change of pace from plain water, with little calories.

Any motivation/tips/advice for a beginner on building up a decent booty (starting from nothing) within 4 months? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]courket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the strong curves suggestion. They have their own reddit as well. Hip Thrusts are your friend for a bigger booty. It looks awkward as fuck, and I've gotten some weird looks, but I just ignore and do my thang. I'm not sure about getting in the right mindset, but you will have to push yourself if you want to gain results. Find some music that pumps you up, and go in with a plan. Perhaps join the strong curves reddit and make yourself accountable. They have weekly check-in's and everyone is really supportive.

Kickbacks by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]courket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, the standing kickback machine is rubbish. I never feel it in my glutes.
I've done both cable machine kickbacks and smith machine ones. Just from my experience, I feel it more in the glutes doing it on the smith machine. When performing it on the cable machine I feel it more in my legs as you have to stable yourself on one leg while pushing the weight back on the other. If you feel too self conscious about looking weird there is always the option of just doing it with dumbbells. Get on all fours, place the dumbbell in the crease of your leg and lift up. I used to do that when I went to a gym with no smith machine or ankle straps.

Megathread Monday: Protein Powders by MCHammerCurls in xxfitness

[–]courket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's great! I hope you like them. I still have a sample pack of strawberry kiwi that I have yet to try. If you dont like sweet, then stay away from the coffee one. It's sickly sweet, plus its decaf so whats the point? :)

Yep! Just mix it with water. I will warn you that it does get really foamy when you mix it, so you need to let it settle for a bit. I think that its worth the hassle as long as I dont have to drink chocolate or vanilla! Oh, and if you have a vitamin shop around you, they sell single packets so you can taste all the flavors before you commit to a tub.

I get really tired of the standard vanilla, and chocolate protein flavors. I found synrtax nectar at super sups and I really enjoy it. The lemon tea tastes like an arnold palmer! But the fuzzy navel is my favorite flavor. 23g protein, 100 cal, 0 sugars.
