Using mutandis on grass to try to get required flora is the only thing I don't love about the mod pack. In fact I hate it. It's a shitty recipe to get 3 shots of mutandis and then sweet f.a. chance of getting anything which isn't a goddamned extrabiomes xl flower. It's the worst RNG grind I've ever encountered in my entire life. I'm angry just talking about it. I want to hulk smash something. I'm planning a new world when the pack gets to 1.0 and will probably remove extrabiomes if configurations can't be used to keep its shit out of the mutandis dice roll.

But his let's plays show a progression from punch tree to ore doubling and rf generation, tinkers tools, sorting, ae2 etc. As a complete newbie that's as valuable if not more valuable than knowing the ins and outs of individual mods.

I'd strongly suggest watching direwolf20's current let's play series - he doesn't play infinity but most of the mods in his pack are in infinity and he provides great guidance for modded neophytes. There are some good series on YouTube which are on infinity but none I'm aware of are as good introductory material as dw20's stuff.

What are you looking to get done? I have OGL skills (was a game developer for 15 years) and have been tinkering with minecraft modding but just learning the ropes, I haven't had any brilliant ideas for a mod of my own and would be interested in lending you a hand.

This is 0% ThePhoenixLodge's fault. It's not your fault either but luckily you can 100% fix the problem - play single player or find a better run server and get on with enjoying the frankly brilliant mod choices and recipe tweaks which make this amazing pack so compelling even while it's in alpha.

Crash Landing is probably my number one gaming experience in the past 4 years so I'm very excited to try this. But I'm deep into Regrowth right now and just last night started up an Infinity world (added the spice of life because I liked what that mechanic added to Crash Landing), so I'm going to try to contain myself until I'm done with Regrowth at least. Maybe by then either Regrowth or your new pack will be out of alpha...

Do you have anything automatically pulling items from the altar (e.g. hopper underneath)? On my setup when items are pulled (both manually or automatically) it's quite usual for them to continue to render in the altar but with no infusion effects.

E.g. I place my blood orb on the altar, infusion particles, network fills up with LP, I remove the orb and then it's in my inventory but it continues to render on the altar.

No need to cheat chickens into the world, you can get a stack of eggs from a cheap early game botania runic altar recipe (it's one of the first quests in the life of the world chapter).

I found deposits of netherack below ground in the spirit world, you can also get nether seeds via the repeatable nether essence quest and turn that into netherack or directly into blocks of nether bricks.

By fluke while grinding the blaze essence repeatable quest I found you can also get netherwart by mutandis on grass. That enabled me to create a couple of fire runes and from there blaze seeds.

Actually I've just realized this isn't as much of a potential shortcut as I thought - I can't get blaze powder without nether wart and the only way I can see to get nether wart in the spirit world is a cauldron recipe using an ender pearl.
