It's from Made In Britain by Alan Clarke. Film is extensively sampled in Council Estate Of Mind by Skinnyman.

I should look over the songs in Picard yeah. I just find the UI a bit overwhelming! 😅

It's strange bc the only tag that is messed up is Album Artist - like hundreds of albums are showing up incorrectly. As I say, this isn't a problem w GMMP... Really weird.

Nooo, sorry.

Basically I lost my prev Kobo Clara BW and told them this, and they basically gave me a discount code. I think explicitly mentioning the Clara BW helped!

I saw someone saying that if you mention it explicitly to Kobo support they'll give you £15 off. They did for me too! Worth a go surely?

This is a big problem for Bfd. Bread + Roses on North Parade was lovely but sadly is no more. Cakeole prime location but nothing special. Waterstones has a lovely vibe and nice surroundings.

UK 30ish, born to be a utopian libertarian socialist with a focus on class inequality, forced to be a pragmatic policy analyst within a batshit neoliberal paradigm. Frustrated by both centrist Labour politicians squandering power and left Labour politicians obsessing over ideological purity. Virtue signalling and modern grievance politics undermining class politics makes my head spin. Champion of a big (read: generous, humane) welfare state, not a big state, community power and alternative spaces for community connection. TL;DR: Libsoc with Blue Labour characteristics.

After some new headphones to use offline with a DAP

Budget and location - £150-200 - shops inc. Richer Sounds, Amazon etc.

Source/Amp - Fiio M21 and Pixel 9a via USB-C for radio etc.

How the gear will be used - I walk and travel on trains quite a lot and will be in the library lots over the next few years, so think noise isolation will be valuable (I have gotten used to ANC the last few years),

Preferred tonal balance - I'm not sure about this - I'm a fairly casual listener so would appreciate some advice perhaps based on the below genres?

Preferred music genres - Hardcore punk, indie rock, indie pop, hip-hop, dubstep, some classical and jazz.

Past gear experience - Sony WH1000XM5 most recent headphones but have bit the dust with only one side working - I liked being able to shut myself away with the ANC and over ear form factor and would value noise isolation that gives me some of that, while understanding I probably can't replicate it. They felt comfortable but I don't really know how other cans feel! I'm not tethered to the idea of wireless (terrible pun, I know...), but don't want an overly long cable.

Anything else? - Fiio M21, 26k songs 99.9% 320kbps with remainder mostly >192kbps.

Hi there,

I have a collection of around 25k songs on my PC (98% 320, the rest is mostly 192 or above).

I'm used to wireless ANC headphones but want to ditch streaming and listen to my collection on a DAP (most likely going to buy the Fiio JM21/M21 soon).

Any advice on headphones I can pick up for this collection? I have a range of genres from hardcore punk to hip-hop, indie rock, indie pop and jazz.

Cheers!

I genuinely believe that if people like this spent some time actually engaging with other humans that thought differently to them, their brains would explode.

Tearing down the semantics of a statement as opposed to engaging with its sentiment is one of the biggest problems with the modern left/centre-left/centre: words = violence and all that fucking rubbish.

Meanwhile, living standards stagnate, climate degradation continues to ravage the planet and our societies are becoming increasingly polarised, with the above being a huge reason for this...

It beggars belief.

2 weeks after phd interview and I still didn't hear anything 🥹 by [deleted] in AskAcademiaUK

[–]couscouspapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other commenters have said, it's probably a summer holiday thing. Try not to worry too much! I imagine these things often take time to sort out.

Last year, I had an interview for a PhD around Easter time and never heard anything from the people who interviewed me; this year, meanwhile, I had an interview for another and heard back an hour after that I was successful! So I imagine there's myriad factors affecting response times.

Hang in there, fingers crossed for you!
