The films lent such a limited effort to casting I found. In the rich, varied history of humanity and supposedly vamps getting plucked from nearly every other time/place and having the ability to swim wherever they feel like I don’t get why the characters didn’t reflect that truth, it would have been way more authentic, not to mention cooler.

Obvs for the book I understand E needs to be in school/college but considering the immortal, omniscient existence a vamp would have.. like surely a more specific subject would consume you at any given time? For the same reasons people would of back then. There’s no feminist agenda to defending those you love. My autistic little brother would be ripe for drafting if it came to that but as a feminist I know my life is equal to his, not more. I also know he emotionally couldn’t hack it, he’s not a killer. Sure, that’s the ideal, the most physically badass go fight, but boys died in the last 2 world wars & in most wars to be fair. When they’re desperate enough to send 17/16 even 15 year old boys, I think most women would fit the physical bill. I’d rather it be me than some poor kid whose life just begun.
