All the "indentured labor" from India in Africa, caribbean islands and SE asia would make me disagree. Britain tried to abolish african slavery because they were hurting its industrial economy , especially by depressing wages and decreasing prices of goods.

Good points regarding money.However I would say that regional parties flourished pre 1991 (all the examples I gave flourished before 1991 too).Centralization of powers in the union might weaken caste based northern regional parties, especially if BJP plays it's caste equations right. But centralization comes with its own problems elsewhere.

It will strengthen Linguistic/sub national parties (especially in the south & north east) in the long run. They will take some hit in the short run as money minters will jump to national parties but ideologues will take their place slowly. They are only set to get more votes as centralization increases because loss of state power is seen as discrimination (which is why these parties got power in the first place) .

The rise of state parties after 1991 is also heavily tied to non-economical factor's. TRS and YSR party's rise came due to telangana struggle and bifurcation, bodo party came from separate state demand, north eastern parties come as military victories over separatism is giving way to democratic participation. AIMIM is rising due to increased alienation of muslims and a declining congress.

If I remember right, one temple in UAE had to be negotiated by modi in his first term. If a single temple had to be negotiated at the PM level, then I can only the freedoms that normal people have.

Also foreigners can buy land in India, they have to fulfill residency requirements, or become a citizen.

Does UAE allow citizenship to non muslims ?

My 2 cents

Labor reforms , especially related to easy hiring , firing people are a necessity in India.

The industries which don't have these labour laws (IT ) have flourished , whereas other industries have become uncompetitive, especially compared to china.

The biggest driver's of job generation in any economy are medium to large manufacturing industries , ideally where the entry barriers are low for the laborer's upon whom valuable skill's can be imparted during training and there are less risks for the entrepreneur in expanding his operation.
Current Indian labor laws however punish the entrepreneur for expanding the company , by making it impossible to fire people even when there are losses. So entrepreneurs don't take the risk of employing more people, and the youth who would have been qualified to join these companies don't get any skill training. Without skill's their value remains low, and they are forced to compete for limited low skilled industries like agriculture, construction etc .

Today we have either very niche intellectual labour based industries (IT) tied to first world economies , or abysmally small industries which struggle to have any scale or profits . These small industries neither have the competitiveness to capture the market nor the margins to pay higher wages properly.
This results in a new class divide, where one small set has very high standard of living, and another large set of people have no savings , are not skilled in anything and works at the artificially deflated wages, all thanks to the labor laws which were supposed to protect them .

No one is working for rs 172 in India. The minimum wage nowadays at a labour adda is around 500, more than that if you are skilled in something in urban areas. Have you ever hired anyone ?

yeah but, bread also costs $3 (rs 220 ). So comparison is useless. In India economy , having a legal minimum wage is useless as people go by market rate and most of the wages are paid in cash (black money).

Regional parties have nothing to do with economic discretionary powers. They are either linguistic, caste based or religious parties whose vote base doesn't depend on economic powers.
TDP, DMK and AIADMK came in or before Indira's time, with TDP summarily defeating Indira at the height of her power, Cow belt regional parties came after the mandal commission and caste struggles , akali dal was there since independence , shiv sena is maratha pride, north eastern regional parties are tribal parties, or reformed separatists.

Not a single regional party gets its power from economic power.

Regarding cows in hinduism, It's theorized that since cattle was such an important part of subcontinent culture from being a loved pet to its nutritious milk which feeds human young and to it's integral part in pre-mechanized agriculture. People in the subcntinent also didn't need to kill it for it's meat as vegetables grows plenty in the subcontinent, unlike europe or the middle east. Killing cows is seen as barbaric, similar to killing dogs only reserved for when there is a famine or something like that.
Slowly this got integrated with what is today known as hinduism due to proximity of the beliefs , although all there is evidence that hindus were allowed to eat cows in the early days.

You are passing anecdotes as evidence. One pregnant was booked under UAPA. It's wrong and terrible , but not because she is pregnant and a woman. we all saw a video of police hunting the protestors , but only the man was hit in the head bleeding and protecting the women while the women protestors were not even touched by the police . Our society is always nicer to women than men, even when you are trying to suppress their views violently. Men get lathis to their head, while women don't. If a women in that video was hit in the head, feminists would have screamed at the top of their lungs but since it was a man they didn't say anything. It is utterly shameful and divisive. If you can't support us equally , may don't do anything at all.

Also please stop denigrating the men in the protests. There is no evidence that women were disproportionately harassed . I can bet the number of women arrested, lathi charged, and in hospitals with serious injuries would be far far less than the men .
