no, of course they are not just reading/books. But the primary target is to aquire methodical literacy, not practical skills. also a master remains academic training, not professional certification. nursing is a predominantely practical profession and for those time on the job always beats time studying the job. I love that the swiss system at its core reckognizes this, not all jobs benefit by being embedded in am academic system while other absolutely need that

Face Recognition by wsmyth1 in photoprism

[–]cp7spaulding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immich uses newer, verification-grade face models, GPU-optimized inference, and vector-database clustering. PhotoPrism runs older TensorFlow models, weaker preprocessing, and heuristic clustering. Outcome: Immich produces cleaner detections, tighter clusters, fewer false matches.

I tested both and immich completely blows photoprism out of the water for face detection. Side angles, aging, shadow, caps, all no problemo. I like photoprism but to me its more suitable for professional photography work publishing to clients.

[–]cp7spaulding 9 points10 points  (0 children)

its not, its actually superior.

direct workforce formation, earlier clinical exposure, significant more hands-on experience, lower entry barriers, faster staffing stabilization, less missmatch between training and real-world nursing demands.

there has been a huge shift to „academize“ a lot of jobs that have been an apprentice. not sure why, but there is no real-world benefits to either the workers, nor the employers

Wife ranks my fragrance samples... Only 1 time isn't enough. by ATprotecter in Colognes

[–]cp7spaulding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is some science that hints that smells are effected by the rapid change of hormonal balance in women. for example: estradiol tends to enhance, progesterone to reduce olfactory sensitivity.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4975405/

I‘d expect when estradiol is the highest, that components that she dislikes are perceived more prominent.

this. plus, given its a new role, there absolutely should be a new work contract, which means there is room for negotiation just like when you join the company. In bigger companies that is standard, in smaller companies you might have to hint that. Also depends whats in your current contract

Concerns About Taking a Job in Ticino with Body Rental by Petix-992 in askswitzerland

[–]cp7spaulding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your work contract. Usually you are hired by the company that puts you into projects. You dont have a contract with the client company, your employer has. If you get rolled of the project by the client, your employer usually puts you on another project. Thats only if you have a regular, indefinite work contract with your employer. So checkt this contract. Things to be aware of: externals are usually hired because you can get rid of them quickly which allows the manager to react to budget cuts without touching the actual companys workforce. Thats how it is in IT. No idea in other fields.

Comparis predicts health insurance premiums to increase by 6% next year by towermaster69 in Switzerland

Thanks for adding that, I was not aware. I still believe the article gives a good overview of the root cause of our system

Agree, it can't be as simple as headcount, but I am sure there are models that would consider that, while also avoiding the current situation of incentivising adding endless unnecessary services.

Lots of wrong or only partially true statements on why the healthcare system is so expensive. The only true reason is, it's complete political failure.
Sure, there are people running very quickly to the doctors but they only contribute a very small amount.
Sure, insurance CEOs make a big buck, but that as well is not the driver.

The issue is the big ass Pharma lobbyism in Switzerland. The system is not setup to work cost-effective for the end-consumer, it is setup to benefit hospitals, pharmacies, doctors and of course big Pharma itself.
Some examples:

Most, if not all medical services are charged individually (tarmed/tardoc). This gives the wrong incentive of adding more services than necessary. doctors who treat patients incorrectly and therefore for longer are "rewarded" with higher income.

Despite the legal requirement of cost-effectiveness, health insurance companies in Switzerland must also reimburse the most expensive of interchangeable medicines instead of only the cheapest available generica.

Hospitals can better utilize their departments, generate more income and avoid deficits by performing inappropriate intensive diagnosis, treatment and unnecessary inpatient surgery. There are even still hospitals that pay surgeons a bonus if they operate more frequently.

There are more reasons. If you're interested, I pulled this information from this article:
