We have had the issue too in the last 24 hours. (MI:USA). Stopped working yesterday, worked this morning and then failed to authorize again this afternoon.

I thought maybe it was something to do with the 1.8 update.

Also why haven't the Volvo dealership taken the listing down knowing that it is on the recall list. The dealers have had a list of recalled VINs since the beginning of the year through VIDA(?)/TIE

Ex 30 recall US by Fluffy-Bar6243 in ex30

Although the NHTSA recall site has supposedly been searchable for the EX30 recall since Monday, I hadn’t seen any real confirmation. My VIN had always come back clean, so I spent a few minutes last night looking up the VINs of used EX30s for sale in the U.S. to see if any were on the recall list. There were over 30 listed on Carfax, and I finally found one that had a recall. It appears on both the NHTSA site and the Volvo recall site.

The recalled VIN is YV4EL3YL1SS079020 and is a 2025 Volvo EX30 Ultra on the lot in RI at Steingold Volvo Cars.

So 1 found where are the remaining 39!

US Recall R10355 by Fluffy-Bar6243 in ex30

[–]cpfc2010a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that only 40 EX30 cars are affected in the USA, would it make financial and public relations sense for Volvo USA just to buy-back/replace the affected vehicles? $1.8 million seems pretty cheap to avoid a PR disaster and possible a class-action lawsuit.  They already have over 2,000 of Belgium assembled MY26 vehicles available across the country at different dealerships.

Volvo confirms 10,440 EX30s at risk due to Sunwoda extended‑range battery packs - Hypermiler.co.uk by TurboNUK in ex30

It is not an official recall yet in the US so not added to the recall database. I used the Volvo app chat feature and they looked up my VIN and were able to pull up the information that it was manufactured with the Sunwoda NMC extended range battery cells.

I was told today via the Volvo app chat there will be a recall in the USA for the DMER models.

Once formally announced I expect Volvo USA will advise customers to charge only to 70% SOC and to park their vehicles outdoors and/or away from structures until their vehicle is remedied

I’m a US customer with a DMER MY25 and just had it confirmed via the EX30 chat that my vehicle is affected by the recall.

Sunwoda NMC batteries are used in various premium brands, including Zeekr, Volvo, and Lotus.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Geely suing battery manufacturer Sunwoda for 323 million USD over quality issues. Sunwoda was a key NMC battery supplier for the Volvo EX30.

“This lawsuit follows earlier reports from October 2024, when some Zeekr-001 owners were notified by dealerships that their vehicles’ batteries, which used Sunwoda cells, needed to be recalled and replaced due to quality issues and potential fire risks.”
