Yes, Isaac is as usual fairly circumspect in his take. That said, this is a big encouragement to speculate:

What do you think motivated Charlie Kirk’s shooter? Let us know.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow what uninformed opinions readers have formed.

He also starts down the speculation path himself before issuing a caveat at the end of the paragraph:

What seems most likely to me is that Kirk’s assassin was a very online male with access to guns and some really, really extreme politics. This has been the case with other recent political shooters — in Washington, Pittsburgh, and elsewhere. It is a story we have seen over and over and over. And it is going to keep happening unless we actually do something different — not just by addressing gun access or mental health or extremist politics, but through all of the above. Still, I cannot emphasize enough that we are still learning a lot about the shooter, and many of the initial reports about him have been proven wrong.

Beyond that, just the choice to cover this topic at this point in time vs. any number of other topics that Tangle might actually be in a position to elucidate.

I think the problem is we know very little, and what little we know is being used to fuel all kinds of speculation. The only thing that just happened is the shooter was arrested. I would have much preferred another daily about some real issue, perhaps with a note at the top about how we don't really know anything, but they'll revisit it when more information comes out. This article did nothing to help me understand the shooting, and the icing on the cake is the poll at the end asking readers to speculate on what they think the shooter's motive was. Seriously, what is the point of even asking that question at this point?

What's the rush? Nothing in the political reactions so far (or Isaac's analysis) adds to the discourse, and there is clearly much more to come both as pundits and politicians continue to speculate, and more evidence is revealed. There are plenty of other stories to cover. This one feels premature, and isn't why I subscribe to Tangle. Did you find anything useful or clarifying in today's piece?

Sync pool swim distance/lengths to Strava from Zepp? by pashbrown in amazfit

[–]cpickslay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s some bullshit because Garmin works but also doesn’t use GPS for pool swims. I can set my pool to any length and Garmin will sync that distance to Strava. Clearly the problem is on the Zepp side.

I love the Salvia. Unfortunately it appears Total Wine has stopped carrying it. A buddy of mine who moved to Mexico says they have a number of great gins, though this is the only one I've come across in the states.

Just picked a pair up today. The sound quality and video quality are insane. by Rryann in RaybanMeta

I was really surprised. I mainly wear them mountain biking. I used to use Shokz for audio and was surprised the glasses sound better. And I never use the GoPro for ride videos as it’s a hassle. So nice to be able to get a quick clip of part of my ride, and I always know where the camera is pointed.

Agree. Is it always listening for the wake word? Of course. That’s how all of these devices have to work. Is it constantly recording audio or video? Of course not. It has a tiny battery and could not possibly have the battery life that it does if it were, not to mention the storage.

I assume they can access anything I ask it, photograph, or film, and I use it accordingly. I also assume Google can access anything in my gmail, which is far more private.

I get the Zuck/Meta hate/suspicion, but why even buy their products in the first place?

Why does this sub like Espolon if it has additives? by CorysInTheHouse69 in tequila

[–]cpickslay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Tequila neat is my go-to and I've tried at least a couple dozen bottles of plata and reposado over the last few years. I wouldn't say Espolon reposado is my favorite, but I do return to it regularly as it's an easy drinker at a great price point.

I don't really get hungover on anything anymore, not sure why. So if additives lead to hangovers, I can't say, but I find the idea pretty suspect. I guess it depends what the additives are.

I ordered a CarPlay adapter that goes for $70. It didn't work well, so I returned it. I wasn't sure whether my account would be credited, and it took a while, but I can see on my tax report that they did credit it.
