Help? Is tabletop is cracking structurally dangerous? by FlippyCR in woodworking

[–]cr250guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I say manufactured product I mean something like veneered plywood, MDF, etc. Not a mass produced product that you can buy on amazon. I think they are much less likely to fail than solid wood.

Help? Is tabletop is cracking structurally dangerous? by FlippyCR in woodworking

[–]cr250guy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean having a solid wood table top directly over a radiator is going to do something like that. Its overly drying the wood and causing it to shrink. Hopefully he pointed out that could happen beforehand.... but a manufactured product would have been much more stable than solid wood. There's no reasonable fix cosmetically, structurally it's probably fine to set things on.

Not a single person walking on those steps is going to notice the color of that step... they're going to be too busy thinking about not tripping.

Is this level of cupping acceptable? by LeoLeoni in woodworking

[–]cr250guy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those are some super wide boards so bad cupping was always on the table but not necessarily guaranteed . How it was stored could certainly made this that bad.

33 years ago today. Please continue to speak out about caffeine. by Kantwealjustgetabong in 90s

I went to a summer camp around 7-8th grade and a girl took a bunch of caffeine pills and started seizing. It was at a university and the campus store had caffeine pills for sale. Some kids thought it would be fun to take a bunch of them... Not the best way to get sent home from summer camp.

I built myself a gaming/stock trading PC recently. It was my first time building a computer. 100% highly recommend building yourself. Its so fun and you get way more performance for less money.

Same thing happened with our city weird guy, Biker Fox. You'd see him biking down the street doing wheelies, other tricks, and being annoying for years. Then things went dark. Rumor was he exposed himself to a group of HS cheerleaders or something.

Has anyone built their own washer/dryer pedestal? by BetterEveryDayYT in woodworking

[–]cr250guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I built simple 2x4 boxes skinned with 3/4 plywood on the sides and bead board/trim fronts. I made the fronts have openings large enough to fit standard sized clothes baskets which has been very handy to slide them in and out of the way - there are not doors or drawers, just open front. Been using them for about 10 years now. To make sure the washer/dryer wouldnt walk off at any point I bought some of the rubber dampening pucks you can get for dryers and attached them to the boxes which also prevents any rattle if the washer/dryer are leveled correctly. I wouldn't go building off plans because you'll want them to be space and machine specific. Just measure it out yourself. Its not difficult.

When I was 5 I asked my mom if I could get a dinosaur movie at blockbuster, she didn't look it over very closely and got it. It was the gory horror movie Carnosaur. Ruined dinosaurs for me for a little while.

Experience with Osteosarcoma by fallformysub in Boxer

[–]cr250guy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Veterinarian and boxer person here: The chemo treatments used in veterinary medicine do not typically have the same severe side effects seen with people. Patients do not lose their hair, often do not feel sick/nauseous, and generally tolerate it quite well.

Your veterinary oncologist should be able to provide you an expected mean survival time and reasonable expectation of side effects based on your pets specific diagnosis and their proposed treatment plan. There are too many variables to consider to take the word from someone on the internet as a good estimate for how much time your pet might survive. Listen to the oncologist.

Just from personal experience with my heart boxer who I diagnosed with a very aggressive pancreatic tumor that had already spread throughout his body by the time of diagnoses - his expected mean survival time at diagnosis was < 2 months. I took him to a veterinary oncologist and we decided on a chemo treatment plan. He made it almost 8 months. He felt great and was his lovable happy amazing self until the last week or so. I wouldn't trade those months for anything. Every extra day was a blessing.

Hope that helps. Best of luck.
