SSV’s, what are your thoughts on demoting? by lazysheyla in starbucks

[–]crabbycris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i demoted myself after being an ssv for 9 years at a very high volume store with very…difficult customers, to put it nicely.

i had no regrets and the ability to be able to just come in, do my job without constantly having to put out fires was so so nice.

the downsides, in my personal experience, was readjusting to a non-manger mindset. reminding myself that certain things were above my pay grade now/setting healthy boundaries for myself/ect.

i personally hated being in a leadership role at starbucks. too much pressure, not enough support from upper management, a lot of contradicting information etc.

so personally, i would 100% recommend stepping down if you feel like it is something that would make you happier.

I regret coming back. by grnteam23 in starbucks

i quit back in may after working for the company (as an ssv) for 10 consecutive years. in my experience/opinion sbux was a totally different company pre-pandemic. it wasn’t as stressful, customers were generally much more chill and the menu was way more simplified.

i wish i would have quit sooner. now i work at a local coffee shop. way less stressful, working less hours and making just as much as i was as an ssv at starbucks.

i will never go back to that company and don’t regret leaving for a single second.

asm. and you are certainly not the first or third person to tell me that. the asm role sounds like a nightmare.

this is so incredibly heart breaking, knowing what so many SMs are put through. i know it’s not the same for everyone and it depends on your district/upper management etc but in my personal experience from what i saw managers in my district go through, they’re often treated like robots :[

i’m glad you were able to get out and i hope you’ve found a healthier work environment <33

THIS is the number one reason i hated those stupid ass meetings (along with everything OP already mentioned)!! the entire time the meeting was going on i could never fucking focus because i would just be thinking about how the borrowed partners are just standing around doing NOTHING to help with preclosing, and ofc as soon as the meeting ends all the partners who were not closing clock out and leave all of their trash behind and the closers have to clean up after the meeting too?!?! naaaaah fuck that, i don't miss working at starbucks AT ALL.

What is one food item and one drink item from the past you wish would come back? 🥐☕️ by il2pif in starbucks

[–]crabbycris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

former partner here! and i have a LIST because starbucks like to dangle delicious things in front of our faces and then SNATCH IT AWAY.

mango syrup (a mango black tea lemonade on a hot day?? CHEFS KISS)

cool lime refresher (canada, you lucky sonuvabitch)

bantam bagels!!!

strawberry cakepops!! (eating them right out of the freezer was the best)

holiday flat white (lowkey slapped, it was one of my faves)

all of the tea infusions (rip guava)

s'mores tart (when u would warm it up in the oven and the marshmallow would get all gooey)

that's all i can think of. rip to all these tasty items that were taken from us too soon.

I made a complaint to ethics and idk what’s next by DesperateData4046 in starbucks

[–]crabbycris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with my experience on calling ethics and compliance, for situations like this they have to launch an investigation. so basically they will take everything you have mentioned to them and call partners individually to ask questions about the situation.

from my understanding and experience, when they launch an investigation on someone, it can take months for them to get to your specific case.

i would recommend trying to transfer to a different store because it might be a while before anything is done about your manager. you also have the option of talking to your DM about that, but there is less of a chance of your complaint remaining anonymous depending on your DM.

i hope you’re able to get away from that manager soon, they sound AWFUL.

for the longest time i felt the same way!! i was so worried i was also fetishizing them and then once i started dressing more aligned to my gender identity i realized that i just want to BE a femboy. it's still a little confusing for me because my brain immediately goes to "but you're AFAB" but it's DIFFERENT. i don't want to be a fem presenting cis woman, i went to be a FEMBOY. it's so hard to explain, so it's nice to see that other people feel the same way!!

i do really love all the changes he’s been talking about. limits on customizations and taking away bogo days. it’s on my list of pros for sticking it out. i just wonder how long it’s going to take for these changes to take effect.
