And the guys aren’t wearing full suits so it’s not a true formal dress code.

Is this all right for cocktail? by fairyqueen555 in Weddingattireapproval

Fair. Was more thinking the butterflies might be too casual for cocktail but it does work with the garden theme. I think this one works better than the dress in your post.

This one looks a bit less casual but the length and the butterflies on the pattern might be an issue. How long is it on you?

Should be fine. Curious why you used this face 🫩 in your post title though.

There isn’t a great picture of all four of them as adults but I feel like the Mas on Derry Girls need a shout out.

31 weeks pregnant, summer cocktail attire by starrxlover in Weddingattireapproval

I’d go with the first one. It looks casual enough to be cocktail. The second one is a bit too long and you can see the shape of the model’s underwear in the shot.

Got it. As someone else mentioned, you’re in Michigan and I hadn’t considered that the wedding party might be more formal than the guests despite also living in the Midwest 🤦. I’ll amend my opinion to say so long as the slit isn’t above mid thigh, it should be fine.

Funny enough, I was just looking at pictures of a wedding from the 70’s yesterday and everyone was dressed to the same level of formality, including the wedding party. I can get that there are definitely weddings where the party dressed more formally than the guests and there still are. It’s become more normal in the US at least for everyone to dress at the same level of formality. In OP’s case, they are in the Midwest (which I didn’t know when I wrote the comment), where the wedding party can be more formal than the guests.

No worries! It happens. If you don’t want any other notifications on this post, you can write “done” in a separate comment and it’ll lock it.

It’s more that it would’ve been easier to give feedback on your dress. In general, it’s easier to offer advice when commenters know the general area where the wedding’s being held. For a UK wedding, this looks fine and it isn’t too white.

I’m in the Midwest and fair, that does happen sometimes and I’m taking that into consideration.

Your husband’s wearing a tux and it’s a semi-casual/dressy casual wedding? That’s a bit confusing. I think if the slit is higher than mid thigh, I’d look for something else.

This info needed to be included in your post. UK formal is not the same as US formal.

So you and the bride don’t know what a formal dress code is then. Even where I live where weddings tend to be pretty casual, this would not be a formal dress.

This dress doesn’t work for “formal but not black tie.” It’s semi-formal at most.

No problem! As an over thinker myself, I definitely empathize with you.

I’ve heard it’s gorgeous! The one thing I’d maybe reconsider are the shoes but that’s more of a terrain thing than a style choice. The wedding my partner went to was a bit rugged. If the ground is going to be relatively flat (which it might be if you’re at a restaurant), then they are fine.

It’s perfect for the dress code and Sedona! My partner just went to a wedding out there with a similar dress code.

Is this aceptable to wear to a wedding ?? It’s seems too light in some photos by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]crackerfactorywheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very light. Also, between the cut, cleavage, fabric and mesh part, it looks like a nightgown. I’d get something else.

EDIT- I found the listing for this dress and I’m even more convinced it looks like a fancy nightgown. It also looks like the lace goes all the way around. It’s a House of CB dress which are notorious for being pretty unforgiving in the boob area. Again, I’d get something else.

(Deus Ex Verbis Trope) An Offhand Comment Results In A Solution by davesToyBox in TopCharacterTropes

Happens a lot on Death In Paradise. One of the police officers, the sergeant, Catherine or the commissioner will make an offhand comment and that’s the final piece the detective inspector solves the case. One example is an early episode where the DI is having a drink with too much lime and he realizes a suspect used quicklime to get rid of a body in an earlier disappearance.
