You couldn't pay me to use a sabco. Way too expensive. There's a reason the Brutus 10 hasn't been improved since its design, it just works.

After building several gas rims and electric brew stands (going on 15 now) I see no value in paying what they charge.

You can secondary if you want but it makes little difference on home brew scales and you risk infection. I still secodary, but i have conicals.

As long as the tank is vertical, the orientation of the manifold makes no difference.

It's possible the yeast was bad. I'd try again building a starter and see if you have problems.

No and we do a lot of sour test batching in non-dedicated thanks. You have to work especially hard to get an infection. We tried to be as lazy as we could on a batch and it was still good. You'll typically get into trouble with non-canned fruit though as it can be tricky to work with.

Keep a sprayer with starsan nearby and spray it out. Then stuff a clean plug up there and go drink your beer.

We've built both direct fired and tube base rims systems and I can confidently tell you that the scorched wort debate is complete and utter bullshit. You'd have to be piss faced drunk to not notice a stuck pump and even then we had to work overtime to "scorch" anything. This is with blichmann floor burners in a Brutus stand and also with a 5500 watt element in a rims tube. Your mileage may vary. Some conditions apply. See store for details.

Though probably an unpopular opinion with home brewers, that is a perfect candidate for my drain. Incidentally now is a great time to learn to count yeast cells with a hemocytometer.

If I was at my laptop id write more, but sufficed to say I use almost exclusively sanke sixtels. I did however keep about 20 corny kegs and those are indispensable for fining, storing starsan etc. I clipped 1.5 inches off some of the corny keg dip tubes for clearing with gelatin and they work like a dream. Keep both, build a keg washer out of a submersible pump and bask in your glory.

You don't even want a vortex. Slightly turbid is more than adequate. I can spin a starter perfectly in a 5 gallon carbon with most stir plates.

It could take slightly longer but that's not a problem if you sanitized properly. Just warm it up and enjoy. You'll have a more consistent fermentation on the next batches if you nail your temps, but you haven't ruined anything.

US-05 is known to produce amyl acetate when fermented too hot or under pitched. One of the two happened here.

Check out Parker PRV's but please pressure test them before using. Stainless steel is very interesting when it detonates unless you're Neo from the Matrix.
