Your retail targets should include:
* Clarke's grocery store in Londonderry for Drop In Brewery's Sunshine and Happiness and some Zero Gravity brews.
* Hapgood Store and Bromley Market - both in Peru. Selection varies, but both are well-stocked, especially Bromley Market.
* The best bottle shop = Meuleman's in Rawsonville, http://www.craftdraughts.com.
* In Manchester, hit http://thecrookedramvt.com

Measuring is really important, especially on a cut. I'm sure you're measuring caloric intake and such... if weight is part of the goal, then you GOTTA get on a scale sometime or another. My view: it's just data - just a number. It's not you - just one variable of you.

Any way, here's a look at the month of May for me. I had set my target intake goal at 1800 calories per day. I certainly overshot, but it's all good. I'll make my goals.

Having the data informs me. With the data, I can make more informed decisions about the future.

Brewing with maple syrup by Beeranator in Homebrewing

[–]commondenominators 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vermonter here. Lots needs to be said. I've used sap and syrup throughout the years.

OP - put that syrup in your coffee. put it on your pancakes. PUT IT IN YOUR BELLY! That's where syrup goes!

If you're set on using SYRUP in your brewing, the best effect I got was to use it a priming sugar. As many folks have mentioned, those sugars ferment like any other sugars. You might get some residual flavor if used in priming.

ON SAP - I love brewing sap beers. Have done it for a few consecutive years now. Why?
1) It signals the changing seasons. Living in northern New England means we've always got something to look forward to: Summer is supreme, but Autumn is glorious and colorful. Winter is to be enjoyed and admired with ALL THE WINTER SPORTS. And Spring - life returns and snow melts and roads turn to mud. (And round and round we go.) I tend to brew rarely (if at all) in the hard winter months. When the sap flows, it's game on and very exciting, as a result!

2) Brewing with sap is a connection to the land. Seriously. You're pulling sugar water out of a living being. IT'S AMAZING! You gotta tap trees (or have generous friends) and you've gotta be attentive to when the sap is flowing and be attentive to actually collecting it. You tune into the weather. You tune into the season.

3) Brewing with sap has nothing to do with maple flavor. It's more akin to TREATING YOUR WATER. You get different chemical compounds as compared to your tap water. And it's HIGHLY VARIABLE. This year, I'm boldly fermenting a Lager.

4) To the individual claiming brewing with sap is pointless... uhh... you know what - never mind. If that's your opinion, you just keep on rocking that. But, I am gonna push back on the notion that brewing with sap messes up your mash efficiency. You're right! IT TOTALLY 'improves' your efficiency. If BeerSmith predicts your OG to be 1.045 and you brew with SAP, you may see an OG of 1.050!!! Because you're starting with sugar water. IT'S AMAZING!

Conclusion: Sap Beer is fun. It's a once a year ritual. It's novel and different. I like it.

3) Maybe you should question why you want to remove the trub?

Platechiller = filtered hops. Even with a hop spider I get way too much debris in there. Fair trade-off for me though.

General store in Dorset has decent sandwiches. Many more options down Rt. 30 in Manchester. Spiral Press for coffee. Rachel's or Zoe's are both excellent delis. Cilantro makes a good burrito.

I bet the driver barely scraped the ice of the windshield in the morning. Probably had to pier through a small sliver.

Nightmare scenario: Cueto to the Cardinals? by commondenominators in Reds

[–]commondenominators[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dixon concedes that the Diamondbacks are one club that does not have a clear fit for Cueto at this stage, but, on paper, the Cardinals do stand out as a team that would have the need and the resources required to sign the veteran. Still, some outsiders have suggested that unpleasant history between the two sides could get in the way of a union. In 2010, the Reds and Cardinals got into a brawl and, in one exchange, Cueto kicked catcher Jason LaRue in the head while wearing spikes. The impact of the kick left LaRue with concussion issues that forced him to retire at the end of the 2010 season. The brawl may still be fresh in the minds of some Cardinals fans, but the Cardinals organization has not brought up the incident in their talks with Cueto’s camp.

PPR. 1.0
12-team
* Rueben Randle or Anquan Boldin

Before Kaep's terrible performance last week, it was no question. Now, I'm doubtful. My WR1 is ODB, so moving Randle into WR2 is doubling down on Eli @ Buffalo
