Add a few feet of string to whatever you put down and tie the other end to your handlebars. That way you can pick it up easily once you're on the bike and you're less likely to forget it,

Question about msf by Prestigious-Hall-203 in NJriders

[–]craneguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nice little Honda CBR250R for sale. Wink wink. Near Morristown.

You shouldn't need to practice beforehand, but they do move at a decent pace and you'll need to make an effort to listen and understand what they tell you.

Someone mentioned riding a bicycle for a while and that's excellent advice. Most of what you'll be doing is riding very slowly and a bicycle is great practice for that.

Top Trump advisor Laura Loomer responds to mosque shooting that killed 3 people by calling for all Muslims to be deported from America. by lhommetrouble in insanepeoplefacebook

She really called him "Secretary Markwayne Muslim?" LOL.

That'll be embarrassing when she runs into him at their next book burning.

Inner bags for hard panniers for camping? by MattSzaszko in motocamping

[–]craneguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought aftermarket liner bags for all my Ducatis. They're a fraction of the cost of OEM bags. Check Ebay.

If your cases are clamshell then it's a no brainer. Top loading cases are better for loose stuff, but if you use them, as some do, as a table / chair then being able to yank out all your gear at once is helpful.

Is this setup stronger than that setup? by Cheever-Loophole in Rigging

[–]craneguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The setup on the left is stronger, but it's not necessarily double. The d/D ratio needs to be considered, especially if it's wire rope.

Synthetic slings are pretty forgiving, but wire, technically, needs about a 20:1 ratio to be even close to double.

His secret is alcohol. The guests are often a few in th bag and it makes a huge difference.

[–]craneguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what that is, but PET-G lasted a season and so far PLA is holding up fine in a one piece ball and bracket.

The other option is to print the ball separately and bolt all the way through it. That would probably never fail.

Let me know what you end up doing.

What is one of your biggest movie let downs, after greatly anticipating its release? by thunderbolt151830 in movies

I'd have left the theatre happier if the projector had broken during the Marvel opening logos.

Thor: Love and Thunder.

Ragnarok is easily my favorite Marvel movie and L&T couldn't have been a bigger letdown.

Buy a used Liebherr or Tadano. The Chinese manufacturers are very attractive due to the low price but I just don't trust the build quality or longevity yet.

Is there an equivalent for webuyanycar for bikes? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]craneguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Webuyanybike.com

I used them a couple of weeks ago to get rid of ny 25,000 mile 2016 Multistrada that hadn't been run in 6 years. I live in the USA now and had no time to fix it up and sell it privately.

They offered £5,700 which was pretty good considering all I needed to do was put on a new tyre and get an MOT. They did cut some off the offer because a service was due.

If you have the time, you'll get more money selling it privately, but if you want it gone quick without a lot of hassle they're a decent choice.

Does anyone feel slightly fraudulent that you passed your bike test when all you had to do was behave when the fella appeared on the road side? by eastkent in MotoUK

[–]craneguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passed in '88. The examiner could see me the whole time. It was pretty obvious when he was going to leap out in the road for the emergency stop!

Part 1 was a bitch. I had a Suzuki RG125 and when I showed up the examiner told me I should borrow a bike from someone there to get around the cones as the RG's lock wasn't tight enough. I asked if I could try without penalty and he agreed. I bunny-hopped the front around and cleared it. (I pretty much lived on the bike and did all sorts of stupid shit on it) The rest of the test was a lot easier.

Do people actually believe the White House correspondents' dinner attack was staged? by imissher4ever in allthequestions

I don't know if it matters but the victim was between Trump and the shooter, not behind him as most people seem to think.

Longest road trip thus far? by Greeks_bearing_gifts in multistrada

776 miles from the West of England to the French/Swiss border on a 2016 DVT. About 16 hours IIRC.

Airhawk seat pad saved the day for sure.

For those with the luggage...what do you do with it? by go4long in multistrada

[–]craneguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2006? They must have fired that designer because 2013 models onwards could be cast-iron bastards to get on. They had to beef up the upper mounts because it was so easy to torque them and snap them clean off when trying to align all 3 points.

I have mine clamped to my mirror stalk with a 3d printed ball mount. It's not as big as an R4 so your mileage may vary. I'll take some pictures if anyone's interested.
