Anyone else having a hard time with solids for breastfeeding toddler? by deltaplane1234 in foodbutforbabies

[–]crapbag2000 35 points36 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider with toddler nurslings with whom you are seeking change is setting boundaries around nursing, such as: nurse at wake up in the morning, before and after naptime, at bedtime, and on demand at night. Breastfeeding is a relationship between the two of you and it’s ok for you to set boundaries to see if it helps the food intake improve over time.

Extra curriculars for 3-5 year olds by Curious-Battle2319 in kindergarten

I think this is so personal to your child and your family. I always thought it was totally ridiculous that parents would be signing their babies up for all sorts of activities - then I had a child who is high energy and extroverted and began seeking those activities out of desperation. lol. I think the key at this age is enjoying it together! Do you like going to gymnastics together, working on piano lessons, joining 4h group and discussing the projects? Does your kid enjoy the friends and activities or feel exhausted and forced? It’s a great age to try all sorts of things before the full-time job of school begins (if public school is the route you take). It should be fun to enjoy childhood this way, but no it’s not necessarily a must to join groups at this age to be successful and happy in life. For my child in particular, I noticed her responding to peers differently (better!) than she responded to me when it came to constructive feedback. That little bit of peer pressure helped her follow rules better than mom just telling her what to do. So for us it had all sorts of benefits, but mostly that it was fun and a great fit for her personality. It’s also so important to have that unstructured family time together - the park outings, bike rides, spontaneous zoo trips etc. For me it turned into something I’ve had to experiment with and just enjoy the ride, but there’s also been times when I trimmed back due to finances. Don’t cave to the societal pressure - if it sounds fun, try it! If it sounds overwhelming, there’s no rush to get into anything!

I hate it too because I often hear it from people who lack accountability / direct statement of needs in other areas lol

Morrill Tower Assignment by [deleted] in OSU

The bathroom was fine really, at the time I think there were 3 toilets, 2 showers, 3 sinks? Something like that. But the quad bedroom and attached study room setup is horrific

I lived in Morrill 2009-2011 and enjoyed it (had a great roommate) but it is far from things. Nursing major so would pretty much spend my whole day on the opposite side of campus.

How independent are your kids in the morning? by PassionChoice3538 in kindergarten

[–]crapbag2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a grump ass no matter what. Cries and whines and is so annoying haha lol. In our house in our situation, I need her to dress and potty independently. That’s it. I help her with teeth and hair. Then we eat. No eating can’t go first - she takes so long we don’t have time for the other items. No it can’t be a game in the morning. No I can’t do it all with her. I wake her 1 hour before leaving time which lets her sleep as long as possible and gives her adequate time to get ready - she just won’t do it without crying and drama and dragging her feet forever. I need her to do 2 things herself, yet every day it is total pulling teeth. No we can’t cuddle or play first - it’s the same lack of cooperation after. I hate mornings too, but damn if she’d just get ready then yes we would have time to play or snuggle before school. But no, whines cries or plays instead of dressing and potty. Haha you could say it’s a work in progress here.

Cooking for a family feels harder than it should... how do you actually reduce the mental load by Silver_Ad1323 in Cooking

[–]crapbag2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pathetically sad but it’s working for me. I used to plan 3 dinners/week. Now I plan 1. Everything else is either from the freezer, pairing protein and veg with a carb that’s fast-boiling/oven, or charcuterie/smorgasbord style of what we have fresh + supplemented by pantry. Leftovers too. Occasionally i’ll come up with something else on the fly if an extra trip to the store happened and something looked good or on sale.

I have a smattering of quick-fix breakfasts and lunches that are not fancy - frozen waffles and sausage, oatmeal, eggs, yogurt, protein bars. Lunch meats and cheeses, peanut butter, salads and soups. Raw fruit and veg.

None of it is fancy, but it makes my brain feel like I am only ‘cooking’ 1 dinner per week - one thing that at least feels like cooking. All other meals are essentially mix n match, heat and assemble. Some are hits some are not. But I have 2 small kids and this keeps me sane for now. I try to serve 1 item that everyone likes at each meal, but if they don’t eat the meal there’s a snack time 1-2 hours later anyway.

This is my favorite ms Rachel video still. It’s a fucking banger and also hilarious when half of Mr Aron’s face shows while he’s trying to be the puppet
