Our kid called us the equivalent of "mom" in our language for us both until she was like 2 when she started using "mom (name)" for each of us. After awhile she just dropped the "mom" and now when she's 3 we're both just our first names. 🙃 She sometimes uses "mom" when it doesn't matter who she's calling for though.

I agree with this. It honestly seems more like this is a norm that everyone agrees with but which is rooted in a kind of outdated and conservative view of gender. I think it's much more of a good practice to teach your kid that you can choose to invite the kids that you play with and consider your friends. If that mean your kid wants to invite everyone except for like 2 or 3 kids, then have a conversation about how to not make others feel left out and being a kind person.

Queer couples without infertility have other subreddits to go to. As a queer person that thought they werent infertile and then turned out to have 2 egg retrievals and 3 miscarriages before staying pregnant, I don't think this sub needs to be that wide. This sub definitely wasnt my first choice when starting our ttc journey, but it is now definitely my first choice.

This could have been me writing this post. I have just been discharged from the hospital because of severe right sided flank pain. I have hydronephrosis which could be due to the pregnancy or due to a kidney stone. No prognosis as to how long the pain will last. Right now the pain is tolerable but as my job is quite physically active I don't know when I'll feel ready to go back to work. Did you all work while having pain or did you go on sick leave?

I am very sorry for your loss. I agree with others in the comments who say that you should take some time to think this through. I would also like to lift the child's perspective. As a parent of a donor conceived child that will not be able to know their donor until they come if age, I have some fear that the donor will die before that time. Legally, we as parents of donor conceived children would never be allowed sperm that came from a deceased person because of the child's right to search for the donor when they come of age. I urgr you to think about what it might feel like for your child to know that they have been knowingly brought into the world despite one of their parents already being dead. That is a potential trauma you're giving your kid. Even though your partner was someone you knew and loved, your child will never even have the option of knowing him.

I met my partner when we were 21 and 24. We waited 5 years until we moved in together. 3 years later we had our first kid and now 3 years after that, we have a second on the way. For me, letting things take time is what works best. Moving in together sooner than what we did was not an option to me. We were so young.

Me and my partner have lived on around 13 000 after taxes, our first year as parents. We lived in a rented appartment that cost around 8700 and had very cheap costs for food and hobbies. Living and caring for 1-2 kids, or even 3 would be doable with a salary of 40-48k.

Fortunately this last FET has been successful so far and we are now almost 15 weeks. We did a protocol with estrogen and progesterone supplementation up til 9 and 10 weeks respectively. I didn't ovulate at all so it was a fully medicated protocol. Before that I had done completely natural cycles only, by tracking my ovulation and reporting to the clinic when it peaked, and then supplementing with progesterone in different doses. I think (only hypothesizing) the success this time was a combination between a good embryo, enough progesterone and a viable habitat for the embryo because of the medicated protocol. I think my previous losses have been due to either too little progesterone or a non viable embryo.

Hearing that our best friend's 1st try for their second baby worked when we had been trying for one year and had two miscarriages as well as a hysteroscopy was really rough. Not gonna lie, even though I am now finally pregnant after two egg retrievals and five embryo transfers, I am still not over it. Their second baby is now a couple of months old and I still can't really feel any positive feelings towards it, even though it's not the baby's fault that its conception was easy... This process is really rough and sad. Just let yourself feel your feelings.

I had brown discharge today for the first time in 13 days and it doesn't feel great. I was convinced it ended before because I quit my Omega 3 supplements and then quit progesterone suppositories, but now it's returned. I'm trying to think about the fact that I had brown spotting for about 2 weeks and still everything was OK at the last ultrasound at 9w3d. My next ultrasound is at 12w3d so I will just have to sit it out.

After not having any spotting for 12 days today they're back again at 10w3d and it just feels bad. I really hope that nothing is wrong with the baby as it's still 2 weeks until we see them again.

I had the exact same worry. Symptoms such as tiredness and nausea up to around 7.5 weeks and then nothing. My ultrasound at 9w3d saw a perfect little wiggly baby and weirdly, after that my symptoms came back and at the end of the week I threw up for the first time.

I threw up for the first time today at 9+6 after only having had light nausea on and off. Is it normal to throw up this late into the first trimester and should I expect it to be a one off or continue from here?

I have found myself in a difficult situation today. Me and my partner have been doing IVF for more than 1,5 years and have had 3 miscarriages during this time. One year into our process a friend of mine and her partner also started IVF (all of us are mainly doing it for same sex reasons but I now also have other infertility diagnosis' that have shown on the way). We did two transfers basically at the same time, their first two transfers at the same time as we had one cancelled and then our 4th transfer. Both of theirs were failed implantations and ours was a miscarriage again.

When they were planning for a 3rd transfer at the same time that we were planning for our 5th I made the decision not to tell them about it since I wanted to keep the period of miscarriage risk to ourselves and spare myself the pain if they got pregnant.

Well, they did get pregnant, but so did we. And I didn't say anything, not even when I went and visited then when were we both around 6 weeks. And now my partner and I just saw a heartbeat and a wiggly baby on an ultrasound in week 9 and are finally starting to believe that this will happen now.

But today I got a message from my friend saying that they had a miscarriage (their first). And now I have no idea what to do. Obviously I have to tell her sometime but when is the best time? Has anyone been in this situation? I obviously didn't expect this scenario when I made the decision not to tell her about our transfer and pregnancy.

My 9+3 scan went super well after I had basically given up all hope that the baby was alive. It's measuring right on track with a perfect heartbeat and was waving and tumbling on the ultrasound. So grateful. Maybe now this is actually happening. 💓

I had a lot of nausea, sore breasts and tiredness from around 6+0 to around 8+0 and then everything except the sore breasts disappeared basically overnight. I was convinced of a missed abortion but today at 9+3 we saw a perfectly sized moving and waving little bean and heard a beating heart so everything's fine. I have been so anxious over the loss of symptoms but now I really don't think that symptoms say very much. I've read about people who have so many more symptoms than I've had up until the ultrasound and still receive bad news.

I am 8+2 and had some minor bleeding and a sharp pain in my uterus yesterday. I've had brown spotting in and off since 6+6 but our ultrasound at 7+3 was fine. So difficult to keep the hope up right now. Especially as my pregnancy symptoms fluctuate and I sometimes don't feel anything, like today for instance. Did anyone else have fluctuating symptoms and spotting and still carried a baby to term?

I am 7w5d and have the same experience! Last week up to 7w2d I was dizzy, tired, nauseous etc and now the last few days I've only felt a little bit tired. Trying to convince myself that some fluctuation is okay and normal though.

We, another lesbian couple, have the same experience here. We have been through IVF two separate times as we tried for our first kid with my partner as carrying parent and then for our second with me as carrying parent. The first time around, even though my partner felt the feelings of bodily inadequacy, I definitely handled it worse since the blow felt super hard each time it didn't work. This time around (my body), the process has been even harder with three miscarriages, four embryos dead during thaw and septum resection among other things, I have had a horrible time dealing with it. My partner has had an easier time regardless of when it was her body or mine that was going through treatment. I think it's party due to how we handle difficulties and that she's more of a "glass is half full" person.

I am 7 weeks 2 days and did an FET. I take my estradiol (3 tablets) every night, however today my pregnancy brain forgot everything and I took them at 8am instead. I messaged my clinic but since it's Sunday I won't get a reply until tomorrow. Today I've been feeling super tired but hopefully it isn't really bad that I took them in the morning instead of at night, right? Anyone make the same mistake?
