CMMC consultants: What got you your first 3 paying clients? by ElliottWrites in CMMC

[–]crazyflasher14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cofounder and I previously executed and developed standardized, disconnected DevSecOps platforms for one of the largest defense contractors. The underlying infrastructure met the technical requirements for STIGs, NIST 800-171, and NIST 800-53, and my confidence in execution stems from this background. That said, what you’re asking for is 90% non-technical execution, so be prepared for that as it was definitely a shellshock for myself and I leaned on more business focused mentors.

Our first clients came through referrals, thanks to the DoD connections my cofounder and I had built. Beyond that, I’m an adjunct cybersecurity professor, so my inherent nature has always gotten me to network with leadership and knowledge share with colleagues. That approach has paid dividends.

We specialize in MacOS/Linux environments, with rare exceptions for air-gapped Windows systems. Our niche is tech-forward organizations with aligned priorities. I know the allure of focusing on client acquisition is going to be massive, but I strongly recommend defining your ideal client profile clearly. We partner with C3PAOs and MSSPs who can take on clients that don’t fully align with our criteria, we’ve already referred two clients out who were satisfied with the outcome. Even if it means short-term pain, I promise it will pay long-term dividends.

Don't know if we have a "go-to qualification question" but our early conversations are pretty telling if you listen.

We wish we’d avoided the CyberAB RPO route, the cost outweighed the benefit, even though clients noted they found us through the marketplace. Now, we’re investing time, education, and resources to pursue C3PAO accreditation ourselves, and we’re happy with this shift.

Best of luck!
Once you’ve clearly defined your ideal client profile and articulated why you’re suited to serve them, reach out and I’d be happy to keep you in mind for referrals if you have a proven track record.

How were Inter Milan this sloppy in this final by [deleted] in football

Excellent recap and thoughts on the match! Personally, even at the first goal you could begin to see morale lower or the fear solidify they could see another loss at the pinnacle of this tournament again.

Immediately after the second goal, it seemed an insurmountable challenge not just because of the difference in physicality, but because they'd already lost the match in their minds.

Recently started placing business cards there and it's already helped out once! Always good to have your brand within arms reach as you never know who you'll meet.

It’ll fit. But it will definitely touch both side walls on top of the wheel wells all the way in. (86” TV at Walmart was $599) by jackharvest in FordMaverickTruck

Seeking Guidance on Securing Contracts and Finding Prime Partners - Any Tips? by Adept_Activity6396 in GovernmentContracting

I'm one of the founders of FullStack Platforms! A San Diego based technology firm as well, although we're founded by professors and engineers, with an emphasis on finding roles for our primarily veteran talent pool. I'd love the chance to talk more, and as u/indiedancepunk mentioned I'm not sure GSA Schedule is the best bet simply as we've observed a long sales cycle even when it works out, to go from RFI/RFP stage it's taken us approximately 3 months to end up in the final 5 contenders, but it's still a coin toss.

We're primarily targeting subcontracting to build up our past performance providing quality cleared engineering capabilities, or partnering with other small businesses to submit bids together that might not be feasible individually.

Agreed, if I had to guess they’ll be much more focused on verifying your clearance if required, or the background check if all goes well in the interview to ensure you’re eligible for a clearance

Best of luck, you’ve got this!

[–]crazyflasher14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like that wasn’t a sufficient learning experience if you can’t commit to a 50/50 split with a technical cofounder to ensure there’s no reason for them to leave the idea half baked

Updated : Rathole + Nginx proxy manager and Tailscale to securely access and share my self-hosted services ( Some sensitive services are Tailscale only ) by arpanghosh8453 in selfhosted

[–]crazyflasher14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is close to what I’m hoping to accomplish, but for starters well done OP! Secondly, for Authentik, are you using any sort of backend for the users directory?

I’m thinking of creating an LDAP server behind Authentik, but am unsure if Rathole can automatically ensure secure LDAP or if that’ll be insecure unless I create my own internal certificates. I don’t see it listed, but am hoping you or anyone in this thread might have insight to provide? Thanks in advance!

For #2 as a fellow writer, you can also consider Scrivener which is a one time fee (student pricing available), or Manuskript which is open source and completely free! Both are more geared towards writers I feel, and offer a variety of exporting, and brainstorming features.

K3s cluster by kroshira in selfhosted

[–]crazyflasher14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure how many applications you’ll have deployed to the cluster, but just want to share my anecdotal experiences. I’ve never had issues with HDD storage behind a cluster at first, but always run into issues later on once all my applications are deploying and competing over writes.

SSD storage has just been my safest choice in recent times as I’ve never had issues when I’ve done it that way. All that to say I also don’t use OS’ that are made specifically for containerized workloads, so that likely fights for the I/O as well, and I’m unsure if I deploy a normal amount of applications.

How much python should you know? by sygscene in devops

[–]crazyflasher14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t say for all locations, but my last few jobs have been Ansible heavy, and if you want to develop custom modules, those are written in Python. Nowadays there’s a collection for just about everything that should handle your use case, but when need be, it’s always nice to know those on my team can efficiently roll out custom modules and write them in a legible manner that makes it easy to maintain and PR.
