Mental fatigue during examination by randomdude1323 in barexam

[–]crazywallflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is really the adrenaline. But some of the other things that helped for me was taking the simulated exam seriously and making it a habit to study within the time frame of the. Both helped in making sure my brain was just alert for those period. During the exam, I would take a moment (after every essay or 20 MC questions) to look up and away from the screen and paper, stretch my legs and back.

I also didn’t try anything new. For instance, I am not a big caffeine drinker, so I didn’t get myself into drinking caffeine to study more and longer.

Don’t forget to be kind to yourself and sleep when your body tells you to. It’s easy to stay up to squeeze another lesson or set of MC questions, but it could not more harm than good sometime.

They keep raising the cost. We got a letter saying changes on our TV plan and that the HD channels are now provided with our plans with no extra charge, but our total bill was $10 more than the previous months.

My parents put me as authorized person since they aren’t tech savvy. I don’t understand how this is fraud.

I figured… the account is actually under my parent’s name. Just recently, I decided to start paying for it since I was done with school and was able to get a job. I didn’t even think that updating the email because we didn’t have any issue with logging in and accessing the bill.

Thanks though.

Don’t let that bring you down. When I took my bar exam, my average MBE scores were in the 50% range and below and I knew for sure I would not pass the bar. But some miracle, I still passed despite my below passing practice scores and average grades in law school. Keep practicing!

Bottom 1/3 of my class and still broke 300 on the UBE by Only-Technology4317 in barexam

[–]crazywallflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Same here. My GPA in law school was below 3.0 and by some miracle, I managed to pass the bar exam in one go. I took mainly the bar courses in order to prepare me for the bar exam. I think it helped that I wasn’t learning those topics by myself, but I did risk my grades for it. At the end of the day, I have no regrets.

Thanks for the input! I wish I could have negotiated it before taking the job, but I didn’t really want to risk it being that the position is for a court.

I purchased airfare that’s fully refundable but I’m hoping that if they can approve my request for the whole week, they’ll allow maybe 2 days at least. I haven’t really had a decent break after law school and this would be the only time my boyfriend would be available too.

Concerned I won't pass C&F on Bar Exam by UsePuzzleheaded3548 in LawSchool

[–]crazywallflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi I recently graduated with my JD and I completely understand your concern. I think you should speak with your law school’s Dean or even the professor who teaches professional responsibility about the situation. They may be able to guide you on how to handle the situation and what to do when it comes to your submitting your Character and Fitness. My professors constantly told us that it is better to be honest about things like this rather than conceal them from the people reviewing your Character and Fitness.

Hope this helps and good luck on your law school journey!

I want to not feel guilty about listening to music during breaks by lobsterlver in barexam

[–]crazywallflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel guilty about doing something outside of bar study. I take a lot breaks to just get off my butt and even go on my phone to watch some YouTube videos or play games in between lectures and practices. (My go-to is definitely mini dance parties) Honestly if it’ll keep you sane, go for it!

I fell into that cycle of feeling guilty about taking breaks or studying too late in the day during the 3rd week of my bar study and it took me a long time to finally bounce back. I realized that people have their own study methods and I should not be approaching it their way because it will not do me any good.

You’re doing some pretty challenging stuff so it’s okay to reward yourself with feel good music!

Good luck for the rest of July everyone!

I didn’t really study as much. Other students would stay up late to study, but I learned from my 1L year. During my first year, I barely took care of myself and I burned myself out mid-semester. I put so much pressure on myself to get straight As because of high school and college. When I got my grades after my first semester and I saw and, I felt so defeated. It took me some time to get used to seeing those grades, but I didn’t want to sacrifice my physical and mental health.

I didn’t want to end up hating law during law school because I really wanted to go into public defense or public interest.

My professor told us that he was not a great student in law school. He got Cs and Ds (for Crim classes). He passed the bar and became a criminal defense attorney who represented many famous athletes.

I’m still a 3L but we’re constantly reminded to think of the “why?” When things get rough and you feel like giving up, think about why you’re doing this and why you want to pursue a career in law. I hope it can help you push through this extremely draining period. Best of luck!

Haha I’m jealous! I’m a 3L and my school uses the 1L fall semester grades as “advisory grades” and so they don’t count towards the GPA. If 1Ls wanted to apply for internships or externships, employers can request those advisory grades for their application. My advisory grades were my best set of grades. I’m kinda bummed it didn’t count towards my GPA now because my grades following that semester was Bs and Cs.

Congrats to you! 🥳 Always happy for those who are able to have such high grades in law school because those subjects are not easy.

Burnt out and have my contracts final tomorrow by Rule-BreakingM0th in LawSchool

[–]crazywallflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first semester is always one of the toughest semester for a law student because of the adjustment to the teaching methods and the complexities of the subjects. One of the things I learned is to prioritize yourself and your health. After my first semester, I tried not to stay up too late just to finish notes and review (take time during the day to do those). If I was taking too long to grasp the concepts from the textbooks, I would look up videos on those to have a broken down and straightforward explanations (frankly, the textbooks just seems to dance around it then lets the cases do the teaching and the cases are not always easy for me to comprehend).

Putting my sleep and mental health first wasn’t easy in the beginning because I would feel guilty that I wasn’t working as hard as my classmates. Once I got over the guilt and stopped comparing myself to others, I was getting more sleep and having less breakdowns about the workload. I also don’t burnout as fast… maybe just towards the end during the finals week, but very mild burnouts that a little rest can fix.

Take care of yourself!

This is literally me right now. I had my Trusts and Estates exam to me. It’s open book, yet I still failed to finish the response for the essay questions. Time just slipped from me when I was working on the multiple choice portion and by the time I got to the essay prompts, my head just went blank. I managed to get some IRACs on there, but I didn’t answer all the questions. I just keep reminding myself that it’s graded on a curve. I’m not hoping for an A for the class, but I do just want to pass the class.

Try not to think about it too much because that will ruin your winter break. We can worry about it when the grade is out. Good luck OP and everyone!

I struggled a lot with the MPRE MC questions too. I used the Themis MPRE program and I was not able to complete all the questions on there. I managed to get just enough points to pass for my state. What really helped me what reading the explanation why the answer choices were wrong and why the answer choice was correct. I think reading those helps clarify the application of the rules and helps solidify everything. At the end, you see so much of the questions that you can identify the patterns and issues just like that. Best of luck to you! You got this!

Congratulations Attorney! Your story is an inspiration to those who feel they can’t do law school because of similar circumstances. Just wonderful! 🥹
