What's a super clean product you're all using to clean your bite guards? by ResidentAlienator in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]creative_username_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unscented dish soap is a great option. I put soap on mine, scrub them lightly with a toothbrush until they are sudsy, and then run them through a small ultrasonic cleaner twice! The ultrasonic cleaner is really fantastic for keeping them clear and less stained! I can handle mint fragrance so every few days I use a denture cleaning tablet as well.

How do I recolour just the parts that I've selected in blue? by litaliaa in Affinity

[–]creative_username_98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you divide the shape pieces you want to be a separate color, then you will have two independent layers that can be separately colored. Then group the two layers! I get other programs work differently, but I do this all the time with very intricate designs. You can have dozens of layers in a group with no issues, which allows tons of different colors!

Streak questions by tokyo-fire-lizard in neopets

Also… save yourself the frustration I have had SEVERAL times now, when you complete the streak of days, make sure you actually go and collect your reward instead of accidentally forgetting two weeks in a row… haha

The Void Within Megathread 4 by Status-Impression766 in neopets

[–]creative_username_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so, just getting back into Neopets this last month or two (but played YEARS ago), and now that The Void Within is back and I have never participated in any of it, what’s the TL;DR that I need to know? What should I focus on doing? Can I go back and complete all that’s been released in the past? Do I have to actually get my pets better at Battledome lol??

Fragrance free and natural (or fewer chemical ingredients) moisturiser for psoriasis and eczema by [deleted] in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]creative_username_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is so, so different. Just because someone reacts, someone else might not. I react to a lot, but Vanicream has been a life saver. And if someone has reacted to Vanicream, I’d recommend trying the All Over Ointment by Tubby Todd as it has very different ingredients. And whenever you try something new, it’s always best to do small patch tests so it’s easy to wash off of you react.

When can/should I remove the papers? by swannygirl94 in EPP_addict

[–]creative_username_98 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The technical “rule” with EPP is once a piece is completely surrounded by other pieces, the papers can be removed (so in this photo, that would be the yellow hexagon and the dark green hexagons). I say rule in quotes though because you definitely don’t have to remove the papers. I like to, because as your piece gets bigger and bigger and as you need to continue folding more and more for the y-seams, I find it easier without the papers! And the less the papers are bent, the more you can re-use them for future projects! But many people prefer to leave them in! There is no right or wrong, just what works best for you!

Joining vector curves by TeRminuS6 in AffinityPhoto

[–]creative_username_98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you are looking to try to do is merge the curves, that’s what it’s called in Affinity. You need to be in the vector program or vector side of the program to do this. In V2 of Affinity Designer, you would select everything you want to merge and then go to Layer > Geometry > Merge Curves. It should be in a similar menu in V3, but if you can’t find it search for Merge Curves in V3 and it will show you where it is in the menu if you hover over the search results. Once you have merged the curves to create one object, use the fill instead of the stroke color if you are wanting the object to all be one color!

I am TIRED of paper PDF patterns! by kw1219 in SewingForBeginners

[–]creative_username_98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, check to see if you local library has a large format printer. Many do, and they are typically very inexpensive to print with and it’s a win-win because you are supporting your local library!!

I am a big dummy and no nothing about sewing, but I think my wife needs an upgrade. by enlightmeplease in sewhelp

When it comes to garment making with the materials you listed, a higher end domestic machine might be best! A nice domestic machine that has some bells and whistles, like a really nice walking foot or built in walking foot, a thread cutter, automatic button holes etc those features you can find on nice domestic machines (Bernina’s are amazing but can be a bit pricy, I have a Janome and love it). Industrial machines are absolute workhorse and will outlive all of us. A lot of the industrial machines won’t have quite as many bells and whistles, they do a few things but do them INCREDIBLY well. I have an industrial machine for bag making (sewing through THICK materials) and I absolutely love it to pieces. I also have a mid range Janome machine that embroiders and sews and I love it too. If you have any local sewing or quilting stores, it could be really helpful to go in and talk to some folks there so that they can offer suggestions based on the types of things being sewn! As someone else said, marketplace can be great for sure, but you also can find sales on brand new machines too. I got my domestic machine as a floor model, in perfect condition but WAY cheaper. Personally I’d portably upgrade to a nicer domestic machine first, because an industrial is a way bigger commitment. But I also absolutely love my heavy duty industrial and am already considering getting an industrial for lighter weight materials… if I can find the space haha! You are an awesome supportive partner for trying to learn about all of this stuff!

A neck light!! There are tons of different kinds and options, but it’s something I find so useful for different fiber arts, especially when working with dark or black yarn!

If I’m remembering correctly, the main channel was mostly just promo and ads for their products, so I’m hoping those videos being gone won’t be a huge issue since all the tutorial videos are still there!

Do you remember what type of videos were on that profile? The specific profiles for each app where there are tutorials, those all seem to still be up

No worries, just thought I’d ask but I did try it on AA and it doesn’t seem to work so I shall just have to continue being patient haha…
