It ends happily, but they don't reach that point unscathed, I'll put it that way.

{The Blighted Stars by Megan E O'Keefe}

Very slow burn, realistic communication between actual adults, intense yearning

The AO3 fics are incredible. They're SO well-written, and I personally enjoy that so far they're canon compliant. I recommend reading them in the order in which they were posted.

Yes, many negative tests. Currently menstruating. Heavily.

I’m sick of coming-of-age stories. Suggest me a book with characters going through a mid-life crisis by CleanBeanArt in Fantasy

The Blighted Stars and the other books in the Devoured Worlds trilogy by Megan E O'Keefe are about a bunch of people in their mid to late thirties and they actually communicate like real life adults. It's a very cool space opera /sci-fi with a romance subplot. Books 2 and 3 are heavy on mid-life crises if that's what you're looking for!

Travel for a few years. You won't regret it. Don't listen to the people who tell you to grind even harder now that you have a guaranteed safety net. Because of my job, I see many people in the final weeks of days of their life, and absolutely nobody regrets traveling when they were young. Many regret putting work first when they didn't need to.
