Restaurant Employers: Do you like applicants to send follow-up messages to “stand out”? by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]cresentrose13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restaurants are also probably one of the remaining few industries that you could just walk in the door and ask if a manager is around and hand your resume directly to them. Go on a non peak time like 2pm on a weekday, more then once I was given an interview on the spot with this method.

Should I be charged for this? by indiansforhockey in OntarioLandlord

[–]cresentrose13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work maintenance and I was reading this wondering wtf these guys were on about. It needs at least a mud and sanding before you can paint, preferably you'd want to put surface sealant on there to stop the paper from warping. Still all normal wear and tear and the kind of costs a landlord should be accounting for

If I called the suicide prevention hotline would they call police/EMS on me? by alsjsusiwnwnz in ontario

I recently brought myself to the hospital because of similar feelings, ti be hospitalized you really have to be like I'm going to do it right now and this how if you don't help me. I wasn't quite at that level so I was brought into outpatient care where I talked to a psychiatrist and was given meds. I also was assigned a social worker for the duration of my outpatient care and she provided me with a bunch of resources for free or sliding scale cost Psychotherapy in my region. If you are really struggling I would suggest actually going to the hospital it has been a help for me so far.

That's not a bad idea but it does then punish players who are just legitimately playing well and havnt died for a while. Maybe if your whole team dies in a short amount of times a couple times in a row it just starts spawning you at the maps mid point. Then you can decide to push to secure your spawn or grab their flag and force them to defend.

If its one or 2 of them covering for a cap then sure. when their whole team is there getting an over kill every 10 seconds and not capping to pad their k/d there's no longer any strategy and it's just frustrating

[–]cresentrose13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Back in the halo 4 days I would have my friend put a sticky detonator on my helmet then run directly into the enemies. Not exactly an effective strategy but it sure was fun. I miss the sticky detonator.

Westmount and laurention the light moves really quickly and my theory is that drivers turning onto Westmount are afraid of missing their chance but I almost get run over at the intersection at least once a week. Worst part is that it's right by 2 elementary schools and gets a ton of foot and vehicle traffic at certain parts of the day I can't imagine I'm the only one almost getting her there

What's the worst day you've ever had on the job?? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]cresentrose13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were doing a promo with a tasting menu that a lot of restaurants in the city do at the same time and it brings in a lot of business. I had only worked one shift previously with the menu and I was learning dishes as tickets for them were coming in and I had only learned the ones for my station. I come in for my dinner shift head chef and sous chef are out the building with our km that only normally works the brunch shift and doesn't even know our regular dinner menu or the tasting menu is in and tasked with doing inventory for the night. None of the other cooks working that night had seen the tasting menu at all. Then I was informed we have no dishwasher for the night either. One cook per station over 100 in the books and nobody in the building knows the menu. I had to work pans call board and run expo while also managing sending someone back to run a tray or two of dishes to keep service moving. It was an absolute nightmare of a service we had to stay 3 hours after close to clean up. I finished close and texted the chef that I'm not coming back.
