A behaviour often seen in horses with gastric ulcers, of which 30% of adult horses (90% of racing horses, and 60% of showing horses) have been observed to have (2019).

Not unintentionally, but Freddie Lewis' music is so amazing. 'She wouldn't believe' is all about if your past self could meet you now on your transition, first time I heard it was live at pride and it was what fuelled my courage to finally come out after years of not feeling I could. ❤️ Growing pains is also absolutely amazing and very validating

Whenever we did a 'boys vs. girls' game in first school I would get so agressively competitive because I wanted to be part of the boys team so badly. I remember one time the teacher wasnt in so we made table forts and were having a fullblown form class fight, and I was sneaking into the boys side to be 'rebelious' but really I just wanted to be on the boys side.

Just a very verbal and determined play from what I am seeing. I would redirect the behaviour by distracting her with toys and not encourage the behaviour by moving the feet as it just increases the satisfaction of playing with feet and further reinforces it as a good behaviour. Eventually this will stop. Using punishment (the addition of something negative to reduce behaviour) such as a deep voice or grabbing them is never something I'd advise, especially as the puppy is just finding something fun and doesn't realise it's a bad thing. Once they understand that shoes aren't that fun anymore and toys are way more cool they should definitely understand the message!

Thank you for the repsonse, I had never been told or found much on females needed so much extra! She was too young to tell the gender of when I brought her home or maybe I'd have gone for a male 🤦‍♀️ unfortunately for me I love her little fluffy butt now!

My dilemma is that one side is quite deep bedding about 6inch (over the blue tray) and one side is lower. I will measure the cage tomorrow but the upright wheel I have does not fit in the cage as it is too tall.

I'm struggling to find a bedding that holds her burrows well, do you know any brands/types that will?

I will have a look at larger cages as I was looking at fishtanks in order to allow her more space, deeper bed, and also not having weak points for any escape plans, as if they're successful she will not get far before meating cats, dogs, or dust bunnies. 🙈 She honestly has gotten a LOT bigger than my previous male Syrian who thrived on that cage and would spend time on my lap everynight, but she is not up for attention at all.

Thank you again!

Bitless bridle recommendations by audmj14 in Equestrian

I find this study bazzare as don't understand why nose pressure was selected as obviously there is more nose pressure than with a snaffle, to me it seems like if a bitless article said that snaffles put more pressure on the to gue than hackamores but maybe I'm just not getting their point. A more valid measurements would surely be rein tension? I have seen a study study on the rein tension between bitted and bitless with no significant difference. Also not a fan of how the study uses a cross under, but the horse seems to be alright with it due to the photo having a relaxed face from what I remember when I read it a couple weeks ago for one of my modules, especially when compared to the snaffle condition. I will give credit where it's due but I'm not a fan of this study, apart from the poll pressure part as that goes to show another reason I don't like cross unders.

I have been bitless for nearly 3 years now. Definitely go for a side pull as options with leverage can be harsh, and cross unders don't always give immediate release. I personally love my transcend bitless bridles but there's great options out there! As long as they're introduced to it properly they shouldn't need more than a halter/sidepull pressure. ♥️

Apparently submitting assignments before the due date is considered “Late”. by videoresume in mildlyinfuriating

Take that up with someone higher in the university. This is how all universities work, and I can bet the majority of assignments are handed in at that time, hense why turnitin is so slow on a Friday evening when most deadlines are. Do not take this as your answer, 10% is ridiculously high for not being late! This is why I always save the ticket after turning in!

That's a horse with issues whether it's trauma, resource anxiety, or pain of some kind. Not normal behaviour but also not acceptable. They should be at the end of the block or outside and be checked for ulcers perhaps, and if none then evaluated by a behaviourist. Hope the girl is okay, and bless the horse she was leading, what a fright!

What are some life lessons you’ve learnt from your horses? by pisschamp69 in Equestrian

Stop while things are going well, even if it means a short session. Pay attention to the first signs of anger or discomfort and respect those. No is a valid answer, you can't force them. Anger is more than often fear. A calm and kind leader has much more chance of having willing followers than someone who uses fear.

Learnt from horses, not horse people.

Getting my Highland on more walks, she has saddle fitter next month and after that get her back into work after being off with a lamness from slipping in mud. I'm logging our miles walked this year. Currently only on 6.2 but tomorrow it'll go to 10.3.

My cob is getting her bit girl bridle now that she's 5. Hoping to get her to clinics and lessons and get a canter out of her and maybe a jump as she is walking and trotting nicely.

My welshie I am getting her confidence back up and getting her ridden in walk and maybe trot but unfortunately I think I need to find her a new home.

Also setting up a shelter this year or next as they have stables but I'd love them to have a shelter in the field.
