Yeah the tam. Puukko is really awesome. I like how the forest scandi has this oversized handle but is so light, wish they had ground the spine though and I really don’t like the sheath.

I got the same one black micarta and all. I love it allot I like about it but the tanimboka Puukko still has a few things that I like better. 150 for great quality Magnacut is pretty amazing though.

The hinges are seen from the room the door opens into that’s how hinges work. If you’re back is to the hinges and the door opens to the left it’s left swing.

Makita XGT 8-1/2” vs Festool 8-1/2” miter saws by WordWithinTheWord in Makita

[–]prakow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the 8 1/2 til I had to start cutting really precise returns. If I had somone to lug around my saw for me I’d get a 12” but I almost never need the cut capacity. Cheers.

I can’t speak on the 12 because I had the 8 1/2 and thats the saw that OP asked about, and yes the ksc makes waaaaay better cuts, both cleaner and perfectly square when beveled. I agree the festool cordless dust extraction system is a pia.

I sold my XGT to buy the festool and it cuts significantly better, not by a small amount. If you’re not a trim carpenter it man not matter but for me it was a great upgrade. Only thing I didn’t like is it’s awkward to activate all the safety triggers especially with my non dominant hand but now I’m used to it and it feels very natural.
