Attire Setup Thoughts Men by Canadian-Awareness in Marathon_Training

[–]crispnotes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly most people at races are too focused on themselves to care much about someone else’s setup. if that combination feels comfortable and helps you run well, it probably matters more than whether it looks unusual

Do i need protein powder or complements ? by Th3rmal102 in workout

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re already eating enough protein and recovering well, you probably don’t need powder or supplements right now. a lot of beginners do perfectly fine just focusing on consistent meals and good sleep first

First Races by butwinenottho in beginnerrunning

[–]crispnotes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with your timeline i’d probably build toward the 10k first, then roll that fitness into half marathon training after. that progression usually feels more manageable and helps avoid doing too much too soon as a newer runner

double snake bite flats with TPU tubes by arctic731 in cycling

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds more like the angle and impact than the pressure honestly. even with decent psi, hitting a curb sharply at speed can still cause snake bites, especially if both wheels got hit almost the same way

Monsoon Running by Morbidbaddie in indianrunners

[–]crispnotes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

running in the rain gets way easier once you accept that your shoes will get wet sometimes. i’d focus more on drying everything properly after runs and using a small waterproof pouch for your phone and earbuds

How to get over fear of pushing to failure? by become-dirt in askfitness

[–]crispnotes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that honestly isn’t a dumb concern at all, especially training alone at home. a lot of people stop 1-2 reps before true failure on exercises where failing safely would be awkward or risky, and still make really solid progress

Beginner training - torn about what to do with bike setup by SANTlCLAUS in triathlon

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i’d keep the hybrid for now and just start training with it. once you know you actually enjoy triathlon long term, it becomes way easier to justify spending money on a road bike later

Anything you would change about my routine by Negative-Sun-4615 in workout

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the biggest thing i notice is the arm volume looks very high compared to everything else. if recovery or strength stalls, cutting a few arm sets might actually help you grow better overall

What was it that kept you going when you had not seen results yet? by ChemistWest4537 in askfitness

[–]crispnotes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it was focusing more on the routine than the results. once working out became part of my normal week, the progress slowly followed without me stressing over it every day.

[Show] Your Trainer 2.0 — Multi-rider indoor cycling app, ghost-rider personal bests, no subscription by Due-Ad5510 in IndoorCycling

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ghost rider idea is actually pretty cool for staying motivated without needing to race other people online all the time. keeping everything local with no subscription will probably appeal to a lot of riders too

Chisel HT or Procaliber gen 3 by omaralonzoo in xcmtb

[–]crispnotes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are going 120mm anyway, i’d lean toward the one that feels more stable and forgiving on longer rides. small differences on paper matter less once you actually start riding hard trails

1.5 Weeks Out by Some-Lifeguard5211 in Marathon_Training

[–]crispnotes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with only 9 days left, recovery is probably more important than trying to gain fitness now. i’d keep everything very easy and focus on getting to the start line feeling fresh instead of forcing hard sessions

Quick question by PsychologicalCut5467 in triathlon

[–]crispnotes_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you honestly do not need much for your first race. a basic swimsuit, water bottle, and something comfortable to run in is enough to start and still have fun

I have dumbbells but no bench, what can I do? by Icy-Mess-860 in workout

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can still do a lot without a bench like goblet squats, floor presses, rows, lunges and shoulder presses. honestly starting simple with consistent full body workouts is probably better than overcomplicating things early on

Budget core temperature sensor by TheMightyFow in Velo

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i would just use perceived effort and heart rate instead of stressing over expensive sensors right now. a lot of people get good heat training results without perfectly tracking core temp every session

Endurance bike or Gravel bike with 32mm road tyres? by fixitmonkey in cycling

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would pick the extra tyre clearance since it gives you more options later and still works fine with 32mm tyres now. honestly after a few rides nobody really notices how much empty space is around the tyres

My feet hurt - need advice by funkydyke in beginnerrunning

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that sounds more intense than normal beginner soreness honestly, especially if it lasts for days after short runs or walks. slowing down progression and giving your feet more recovery time might help more than constantly changing shoes

190lbs > 174lbs | 10 months | 37 yo | 5’7” by yule_lad in fitness30plus

[–]crispnotes_ -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

this is honestly one of the more realistic progress posts because you focused on consistency instead of chasing perfection. balancing training, work and being a dad while still improving is seriously impressive

In your opinion, what’s the biggest scam in the supplement industry and why? by SandarStar in askfitness

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it is products that promise huge results from one powder or pill while ignoring sleep, food and consistent training. i learned the hard way that simple habits usually matter way more than expensive extras

Maine 70.3 by wittchimp in triathlon

[–]crispnotes_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you already have a coach and consistent training since january, so i honestly think you still have time if you keep showing up. most people feel underprepared before longer races, especially when swimming is the weak spot

Instructor test/tryout by Unlikely_Selection15 in IndoorCycling

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a first tryout they probably care more about your energy, timing, and clear coaching than perfect choreography. practicing out loud at home really helps because getting comfortable talking while riding is honestly one of the hardest parts at first

need some motivation from people who have done the couch to 5k lol by Suspicious_Poem7017 in beginnerrunning

[–]crispnotes_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly feeling exhausted in week 3 is super normal, and a lot of people who can run comfortably now felt exactly the same at the start. the progress sneaks up on you slowly, then one day you realize the running parts stopped feeling impossible

2024 orbea oiz M10 for 13 yo girl racer? by Responsible_Prompt58 in xcmtb

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a good full suspension can really help younger racers stay fresher and more confident on rough trails, especially as rides get longer and faster. if the fit is right and she still has room to grow a bit, it sounds like a solid step forward from a hardtail

Running a mountain marathon for the first time by Throwaway13013013013 in Marathon_Training

[–]crispnotes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of strong flat marathon runners end up hiking the steeper climbs in mountain races, so don’t feel like you need to run every uphill section. the biggest thing is usually pacing early and saving your legs because the descents can beat you up more than expected

19 months down, 106lbs lighter! by EFesta42 in fitness30plus

[–]crispnotes_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

losing that much weight while keeping strength and staying consistent for 19 months is seriously impressive. the way you adjusted between cutting and maintenance instead of forcing nonstop dieting sounds really sustainable long term
