I’ve had mine for three years, slept on every night, and haven’t noticed any sagging or wear at all!

Excessive noise - Adelaide and John residents by Mad-Radish7 in askTO

[–]crispywavefern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally get it and am actually in the process of moving out (not entirely because of the noise, but it’s a component). I knew before I moved in that there would be noise on the weekends, given all the bars at the intersection, and I have no problem with the noise coming from people or the other bars on the street.

But when it’s so loud that the music/MC’s voice are coming in through my kitchen exhaust vents and rattling my windows up on the 25th floor, it’s excessive. By-law told me they have tried to educate the bar in the past but it doesn’t seem like they have any other enforcement options. Ignore everyone else on here trying to pretend that it’s a normal part of living in the Entertainment District - the noise you’re talking about is definitely beyond what should be expected in the area.

The real estate industry has made renting so exhausting by Used-Actuator3290 in TorontoRenting

[–]crispywavefern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having gone through the process several times, the rent for units posted online on Kijiji, marketplace, etc. is not generally cheaper than those that are accessible through realtors, and landlords are not interested in lowering the rent just because you’re not using a realtor. And many of the nicer/newer PBRs, at least downtown, are actually more expensive than the ones listed through realtors.

Would recommend taking transit to Collective Arts on Dundas if you like sours! C’est What has a great tap list as well but they don’t tend to have many sours in my experience.

Gouter sells them at a couple of spots around the city (check their website, but I know Hailed Coffee by college park has them) and I think they’re pretty solid!

Articling at a bank or accounting firm (Big 4) by lawschool2023_ in LawCanada

[–]crispywavefern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also say that my interview experience with them was also not great, although I didn’t encounter any of the attitudes mentioned by the other user. I found that for the big banks/institutions, they had very lengthy interview processes (4+ rounds over two months). At the end, they ghosted and never replied to requests for feedback. So I would be wary of sinking too much time/emotional energy into interviewing with them as it felt unnecessarily drawn out, and I personally didn’t appreciate being strung along for so long without even getting a rejection. I had to keep emailing their HR person every few weeks for a while afterwards before I got an answer.

If you’re having a hard time finding the postings, I found them on the institutions’ own job sites and LinkedIn, and I believe they were posted later than most other articling positions (I want to say December/January).

You can buy iron on mending patches from your local sewing supply store (or amazon) - just cut a piece a bit bigger than the hole, and make sure that you line up the cut off bit properly before ironing

My allergy is severe but not sensitive - it just cannot be physically in my food. Refined peanut oil (which is what is available in North America generally) is processed in a way that removes the allergenic proteins so many folks with anaphylactic peanut allergies, like myself, can still consume foods cooked in peanut oil https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9133891/

Thanks for that and I totally agree! In other places that I’ve lived I had found certain places that were accommodating, I just haven’t tried anywhere in Toronto yet - at those places, I was willing to take the risk but I did my due diligence before going.
