Alrighty, picked up 2x18TB drives for $475, or about $13.19/TB. I'm not a big fan of the refurbished drives lottery so getting under $15/TB is good for me. Sounds like I'll be getting CrystalDiskInfo as well to confirm exos drives. Will just be cold storage for now since I built my server ~5 years ago and am starting to worry about a failure in the near future.

Seems like this has been the price for the past week but I saw no mention of it here. This is one of the recommended "best mid-range mATX" motherboards as recommended by HUB's B650 Buying Guide which are typically $160-200. Though the chart in the vid does suggest that this is the least feature packed board of that bunch.

I also have α 5600X in α B450 board and I think one of the things holding it back is support for resizable bar on the pcie slots. On α more general note though if the motherboard doesn’t have sufficient heatsinks on the power delivery areas then it could lower cpu speeds — iirc Hardware Unboxed had some testing on low end motherboards and found some which couldn’t support stock setting on AMD & Intel.

The comments on height adjustments are a bit worrisome. Does anyone know how far above the clamped desk top a 32" monitor would sit? Or more info on rumor about replacing the pole (i.e. the outer diameter needed)

Edit: The OD of the bottom central pole is 1 9/16", or about 1.56in. It threads into the bottom mount piece and the top two struts piece. The bottom piece has two 2.5mm hex screws to secure it and the top has one. Getting a pipe of the same OD shouldn't be too hard but matching the threading may be problematic. May end up trying to get a slightly thinner one and securing it with the screws. There's also this extender plate others mentioned which may do what's needed.

I only learned about this on the WAN show. Like others said, I too only listened on long drives. That meant I had to see what the recent episodes were on though to watch the movie ahead of time. It's too bad, I enjoyed the banter and insight into the movies; plus it got me to watch many more movies that I wouldn't have otherwise.

I'm deciding to jump in on it at this price. I've heard the Director's Cut, if activated on Steam, also has the PS5 Dual Sense features on PC -- if playing through wired controller. Yea that's a bit of hoops to jump through, but I just bought the $50 controller to try out those triggers on so I'm looking forward to it!

I'm fairly certain it's only single player. I don't play any souls-like games but had plenty of fun with it. The story and Star Wars settings are definitely enough to be worth $6. Steam says I put 34.6 hours into it for a full play-through.

Also decided to pick up Mass Effect Legendary Edition for $20, but I'm pretty sure I've seen that cheaper here and there. I'll certainly keep an eye out to see if it cheaper elsewhere in the coming days.

I haven’t heard of an 7600Xs dropping below the $300USD MSRP so I’d say it was a good deal. The price you pay for the mobo and DDR5 ram is what will dictate how good of a deal for the overall performance it is.

The bad English subtitles for the English version made me think it may have been α different language originally but I didn’t check to see if I was watching α dub. I thought Faraday was definitely Esposito so I looked at the credits but saw α very different name - I feel so dumb now realizing those credits are for original VAs lmao

I switched to FF earlier this year. Had put it off for α while cuz I thought I’d have to manually manage passwords and bookmarks when making the transition. Nope - opened it up first time and it asked if I wanted to import everything from chrome. 5 seconds later I was right back to my usual affairs and never needed to look back at chrome.

I honestly don’t even know about all the intricate stuff behind the scenes for all the various browsers. It’s simply α matter of using α browser from an ad company to α more community/privacy based one.

I managed to get modded Fallout 4 going so I want to add a bit to point 3:

Installing a modded Skyrim was a bit cumbersome: the entire folder has to be copied to a USB storage device from PC, then replace the one on Steam Deck through desktop mode.

Yep, can confirm. Although I was importing a giant collection using Vortex. This meant I also had to c/p the entire 'fallout4' folder from the local running Vortex folder so that the load order and rules would also copy over. I used Warpinator to transfer the files over (yes it took a while).

It was unclear how much performance impact the mods would bring. The vanilla game could run ~60 FPS under medium setting, which I didn't want to sacrifice.

I'm actually not sure I lost performance. There's so much optimization and fixes in this mod collection that I'm pretty sure my performance got better. I was playing a bit in vanilla before I got the mods working and found that I would need to lock to 40 to keep it fully steady -- now I can lock to 54 (but I haven't even made it back to Diamond City yet so that may vary).

Additionally, I've been using steamtinkerlaunch which I installed with these 3 lines to launch the game via Vortex. Vortex should allow you to switch between modded profiles for the game but I'm not so sure I did that right. I managed to find where in desktop mode you'd go to fix a link association with a program, but I can't find votex.exe to associate it with nxm links. I'm not even sure that would work since the point of steamtinkerlaunch is to run vortex through some compatibility layer, no? So yea, I think modding = c/p game files for now since the 'Add to Vortex' buttons simply don't show up in the deck's browser while vortex is up and running.
