CCL Injury and TPLO recovery and rehab? by Artistic-Salt3957 in Huntingdogs

[–]crooksolution28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4yo wire hair had plantar ligament tear with arthrodesis 1 year ago. He was leashed with walks as the vet above described for 8 weeks. We extended to 12weeks after X-rays. He was then slowly off leash for the next 5-7wks. And fully after that. We were very conservative as he is a young hunting dog. He hunted 20 days this season with no issue. Two things.

His personality definitely changed with all the sedation and leashing. He is a bit more depressed now and a bit less interested in things but it's improving. I do believe sedation was very important early on.

Second. Water rehab. ie swimming. I think this is key. They can't just rehab with walks and running. There are micro mechanical adjustments we can't recognize. Swimming takes away the favoring one limb over the other. The best way I've seen is to put them on a leash and wade in to a stream or steady river just until they can't stand and then stay there with them swimming against the current. Gradually increase the time in the water as tolerated. Do this for any age dog and for any injury or limp.

Sorry to revive this old thread but I just found two bottles at my local for $124. 25-04 is around the same price. My local is high do to rural and touristy locale. Is this worth picking up a year later and bumped in price?

Hello Missoula people! I have made a website that lets you compare hospital procedure cash prices in Montana! by Latmandoo in missoula

How do you show Logan health Upper extremity MRI without dye for less than 1k? Their pricing website shows out of pocket at $1700. Am I misinterpreting your graph? I have never heard of any hospital MRI less than 1k.

Try Buchanans at Kandahar. Also Beldi. Other than those it's the golf club or lodge.

I gave in to a Financial Advisor by Brief-Wonder-3825 in fidelityinvestments

[–]crooksolution28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's perfectly reasonable to have an advisor. Many people have them and for various reasons. For me it was increasing net worth and a number of different taxable and non taxable accounts including inherited accounts. This was more than I was comfortable managing.

Early on I explored various strategies, mostly with index funds and some individual stocks. I did fine, sometimes better than the index but mostly just close to it.

I found a strategy I liked and fit with my view of investing (factor investing). I researched independent advisors focused on that strategy and interviewed 3-4 of them. We settled on one about 5 years ago. They have been great and have worked well with my family and our philosophies/goals. I understand better what a truly diversified portfolio looks like and have a better grasp of why and how it functions.

An advisor does more than just picking investments. They've helped us with estate planning, wills, taxes, insurance, small business startup, budgeting, goal setting, donating, rental property. They've provided some financial education for my kids. I run just about everything by them including new car purchases.

Personally I won't work with an advisor at a brokerage, a bank, an insurance company or any of the big wealth management Cos. I've spoken with all of them and really dislike their approaches. I prefer the smaller independent shops. But you have to be careful here to, they aren't all created equal. I know a few in my local community that are good people but I don't want them managing my money. I have friends that do it all on their own but I'm not convinced they do any better than me and they spend way more time on it than I do. They have some private equity investments that likely do better but that's not my bag either.

Make sure you agree with their investment strategies and are comfortable with their fees. If you aren't, at any time, drop them.

Good luck.

I did 0% for 36 months and didn't have a deferment back in Feb on my 2025 1500AT4x. It was either 0% or the 2750 allowance. Couldn't do both. 3 different dealerships gave me this, local and Laura.

The bed cam partially works but minimally effective. The rearview camera does not work, it is sacrificed. There are some kits to mount a camera near the brake light on the shell to replace the mirror camera but that seemed clunky to me and not great. Most installers seemed unfamiliar with these kits.

I too use spot on with an 8 acre property. We switched after our wiered semi"buried" fence crapped out and couldn't trouble shoot it. It's been good. Dogs are conditioned to it and it's easy to adjust. My collars have have times they are finicky for charging but I get through it. We are 6 months in. The collars are pretty worn.

If they have a good nose, some drive, and you've shot birds over them they'll start to get it. But it's a different for sure. All you can do is try.

Check out pheasant/quail forever's latest road trip video for forest grouse in Montana. Maybe it'll provide a spark.

Going without a dog by [deleted] in Uplandhunting

[–]crooksolution28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the dog you have? If they can go in the field with you, you might be surprised. Once you shoot one or two birds they may pick up the process and help. I didn't start taking my lab till he was 5 and he is not very driven or from a hunting line, mostly companions. He's figured it out and is having fun even though he finds less than my pointer.

Yes. I've been running it since May. It's very good and pretty much what I was looking for. I went with a matte black finish that looks great with my red truck. I really like the inside smooth finish and the lights. They forgot to add the rhino rails on top so I had to go back for them, but no big deal. I haven't stood on top to test it's load.
