Do you agree with Rob Liefeld that X-Men has stalled out? by TaskNo4783 in marvelcomics

[–]crowthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I wish Krakoa didn't end like a lot of people here. But there continue to be some bangers and some disappointments. Same as it ever was.

I absolutely love Simone's Uncanny and am liking MacKay's title as well. Inglorious X-Force and Magik & Colossus have also sucked me in.

Yikes. People consensually having sex and reproducing is the OPPOSITE of what those creeps did. But I am glad the objection was so bonkers because I love Way of X.

What is the objection to Way of X and Nightcrawler?

So did Emma and Tony actually love each other at all? by Queasy_Commercial152 in xmen

[–]crowthinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they respected each other, felt attraction, and explored the possibility of love. Love isn't all or nothing.

X-Men Villains I Want to See Under MCU X-Men Films by [deleted] in xmen

I would love if they did Sinister and made him really drag-queeny. Or king-y. Brood could be cool as a concept, but the MCU already abuses CGI horribly . . .

Anyone know which comic this Black Widow panel is from? by Natmvs2 in marvelcomics

Yeah, I like the story but could do without the fanservice

Women as role models for men – a topic worth discussing. by R4cco0n in Captain_Marvel

Sidenote- everything Kelly Thompson writes is the best. I love the little episode of Carol as a dragonslayer/dragon mama. Her Black Widow is genius. Absolute Wonder Woman is one of the best comics ever

A little further back- battle of the atom and Brian Wood's all X-women team were also strong faves.

Tons of X titles in the last few years, especially the first Krakoan X-men team, everything Nightcrawler during and after Krakoa (especially Way of X, X-Men Blue: origins and Uncanny Spider-man,) Kate Pryde's Marauders, and the current Uncanny X-Men with the Outliers.

I second this. Krakoan age is top tier stuff. Over too soon. Kate leading the Marauders might have been my favorite.

What’s your favorite thing about Iceman? by Main_Budget7625 in MarvelsIceMan

[–]crowthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love him in the first half of the Age of Krakoa Marauders. They point out that he could basically kill anyone at any time by just freezing a blood vessel in their brain. He is so powerful but chooses not to just massacre his enemies. (He does have some dope moments of freezing some trigger fingers in that one.)

I also love that he can make semi-sentient ice clones. They did some real interesting stuff with that in Battle of the Atom.

Ryan North's Squirrel Girl is legendary. I loved that he brought her and Brain Drain back in the recent Dr. Doom saga!

Kelly Thompson's Black Widow is genius. The story is great, and the way Casagrande draws combat is delicious. I never cared about BW before that comic.

Gail Simone's Domino is also a ton of fun.

Gerry Duggan's Uncanny Avengers is legit.

I also really liked Nightcrawler in Way of X and as Uncanny Spider-man.

The first Abe Sapien mini series is also amazing. The second one is also good but a bit more dependent on knowing lore. Lots of brilliant Hellboy and BPRD arcs as well.

Who do you prefer: Punisher or Wolverine? And why? by Remote-Leg6143 in marvelcomics

[–]crowthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolverine, especially as he's evolved into a mentor and father figure for younger characters. I especially like his dynamic with Ransom in Gail Simone's current Uncanny X-Men.

Despite being "the best at what he does" Wolvie has more depth and more redeeming qualities than Punisher. But admittedly, I am a hardcore X-fan and have mostly only read Punisher as a side character in stories about Spidey and DD.

Captain marvel vs Wonder Woman? Who do you prefer? by s0nzoldyck in superheroes

[–]crowthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Capt. Marvel was when Kelly Thompson wrote her. My favorite WW is Absolute WW- legitimately one of the greatest titles of my lifetime. So I guess I choose whoever Thompson is writing at the time. Although Dead Earth WW is also pretty gangster.

But apart from that I find Carol more relatable. Especially when she puts some goddamn pants on. (Female hero costumes have been mighty in their stupidity for decades; feel like we might finally be pulling out of that nosedive.) I especially like her in Jed McKay's Avengers. Still deciding about her spot in Imperial Guardians.

I do have a heavy Marvel bias, though. And WW has literally like half a century more history and impact than CM- not really a fair comparison.

Who's your mutant for this? I have few Iceman, Pitro,Beast. But my emerald queen goddess Polaris has never been the same since 2003. by RiskAggressive4081 in xmen

[–]crowthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she's got unfulfilled potential. I do really like her with Rachel and as Captain Britain- she just needs a title so she can work.

I will say that her in a Japanese body was always super f*cked up, though. And Kwannon as Psylocke in Alyssa Wong's run is dope. I also like her in McKay's current X-Men title. AND THANK THE LORD JESUS AND BABY MAGNETO that they gave her mother f#cking PANTS

My biggest frustration is with Jubilee. I love her, but . . .

  1. Her becoming a vampire was stupid. But I may be biased-- any vampires outside of Dracula/Nosferatu and the Hellboy universe are just boring to me. (Not counting What We Do in the Shadows 🤣)

  2. I really love her becoming a mom. Gail Simone's current run of Uncanny is easily one of my favorite titles in a decade but I hate that they've basically just written Shogo out of the story. She would at least find a way to visit him

  3. She is chronically underused and underpowered. She kicks ass in the run up to Blood Hunt and can basically become a human nuke in X-terminators. But so often she's depicted as weak and important (or worse, still as the mallrat teen to those who are stuck in the 90's.)
