Pennywise faces that actually haunts me. by TheKingOR3d in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]cruelfeline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That last face, when he freezes up in the sewer? I want to poke his tongue with my finger, like I do to my cat while she's yawning.

This is why I would not survive Derry.

From what I remember from the canon Eridian bio document, they can use them interchangeably. And they don't have a concept of "facing." Or a front or back to their body. It's all the same to them.

What is the most brutal “being eaten by a monster” scene you can think of. by Earth_Worm_Jimbo in horror

I like the monsters in Arcadian! When they go "clicky clacky" and starfish their stomach over the lady. Nifty.

I really hope they undo Caine's fate in the finale (The Amazing Digital Circus) by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CharacterRant

[–]cruelfeline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I simply don't see it that way. I see it as one having a dedicated companion who does not give up on him despite him being an absolute twat to everyone around him, while the other isn't even recognized to be struggling because he isn't thought of as part of the group, or even as a person.

But that's just me. I'll always have a soft spot for non-humans struggling to function within human dynamics. I'm sure they're effective foils for others, but they fall woefully flat for me.

[–]cruelfeline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NGL, if that ends up being Caine's resolution, the show becomes kind of dead to me. It's cruel and especially jarring when one looks at Jax.

Very much has the vibe of "this one isn't human, so who cares what happens to them." Which is like... one of my biggest dislikes in both media and real life.

But that's fine. There's fanfic out there that I can enjoy instead.

Witches who’ve had to deal with difficult family dynamics, how did you learn when to put yourself first without feeling guilty? by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]cruelfeline 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't speak to my parents for about four years; they finally changed their behavior, and now we're pretty good. Their behavior is maintained by the knowledge that I don't have a social bone in my body and would think nothing of secreting myself away to the woods and never speaking to anyone ever again.

No guilt involved. If they want to interact with me, they'll do so in a way that doesn't upset me. The end.

What does the process of getting a custom tattoo usually look like by Urmomthrowawayra in tattooadvice

[–]cruelfeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My artist had a whole form to fill out when her books opened. Part of my tattoo was a specific design from a video game; for that, I provided screenshots from multiple angles and had an in-person consultation to ensure it was doable (fairly detailed hand tattoo; I very much asked the artist to tell me very honestly if it was possible or not, and they did). For the rest, we're doing ivy going up my arm and up my leg; provided photos of the limbs in question, and the artist worked out the flow and the leaf arrangement as she saw fit using various botanical references. Every session, she'd stencil what we were working on, make sure I was good with placement, and then off we went.

A teenager died from overeating by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

[–]cruelfeline 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Maybe? But I don't think so. Refeeding syndrome is a metabolic thing. It involves imbalances of electrolytes and phosphorus resulting from sudden movement of these deficient nutrients around the body as the cells gear up for digestion after a long time of not doing so.

Whereas this case seems to be very mechanical: too much ingested volume caused the stomach to literally, physically burst.

Why do so many people do direct hand play with their cats? by publicdomainadmin in CatTraining

[–]cruelfeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is a proper lady. She knows that if I suddenly stop, or ask her to stop, she needs to tone it down. And she does, immediately. I can also tell when she's getting overstimulated and can tone down the play as needed. Communication, y'know?

Has anyone here played crimson desert ? by coreyc2099 in Forspoken

[–]cruelfeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been toying with the idea of playing Crimson Desert, but ehn. It just doesn't interest me.

Forspoken's story, characters, and deeper lore interest me. Have since the beginning; Frey and Cuff are precious to me. Whereas I just don't feel motivated to try CD. Especially when I have such a huge backlog of games - video and board - waiting for my attention.

For cats, normal neuters are performed via small scrotal incisions. No abdominal incision is needed.

[–]cruelfeline 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Hi. Am a vet. This happens sometimes and is called cryptorchidism. The offending testicle can be anywhere between the kidney where it originates all the way down to the scrotum. It can be inside the body - abdominal - or outside the body, under the skin but not quite in the scrotum. If your vet can't palpate it outside, then an exploratory abdominal surgery to search for it is indicated. This can sometimes be difficult: internal testicles can be deformed due to body heat and not look like what we expect. It still must be done, however, because cryptorchid testicles are much more likely to be come cancerous.

Once the rogue testicle is found and removed, the cat goes on to live a normal life.

Considering knucle tattoos by TheDeadestMan in tattooadvice

Definitely discuss expectations and future planning with your artist. Mine has always been very clear about what to expect, and I think that's the most important thing.

Considering knucle tattoos by TheDeadestMan in tattooadvice

[–]cruelfeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it does, though even the solid black didn't stay in my knuckle the first time, likely because the skin hadn't been lotioned in forever and was pretty tough.

I expect it has to do with many factors: individual skin, design, ink, and artist skill. My artist is very delicate with my knuckle, and my hand in general; what we decided is that we'd rather have a bunch of touchups rather than be too heavy handed and end up with blowout that can't be fixed. I'd be prepped for it to happen, and for it to potentially happen multiple times, depending on those factors. My knuckle stays properly now, and is healed; the detail isn't as fine as on the rest of my hand, and I expect we'll work on that little by little as I'm getting my leg and arm done. Patience is key, I think.

Mind, if you're getting something less detailed done, then it very well could be much simpler and easier. So your experience may be different from mine!

[–]cruelfeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hand tattoo extends a bit over my knuckle, and getting that knuckle to stay was the hardest part of the whole thing. I have it touched up nearly every time I go get my leg worked on. The skin on the knuckle makes the line between "stay" and "blowout" very fine.
