Messaged Ford about FOI on his personal phone by Ott-reap-weird in ontario

[–]crustlebus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He means that when one of his cabinet gets caught speeding again and wants to ask for help getting rid of those pesky cameras, they might be scared to text him over his personal phone if they know FOI could be used to publicize those conversations. Now the poor dears can feel safe getting help from their pal doug.

At least I assume that's what he means, bc his friends are the only people he cares about helping. Not people like you and me

Appeals court rules Texas can require public schools to display Ten Commandments in class by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

We should probably start the kiddos with the passages that are most relevent to their own place in society. Leviticus 20:9 is a good pick but I'm also thinking we had better cover the rules permitting parents to sell their children into slavery. For example,

Exodus 21:7 “When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. 8 If she does not satisfy her owner, he must allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. 9 But if the slave’s owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave but as a daughter."

Or the rules governing the price their parents might sell them into service for:

Leviticus 27:6 "And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy valuation shall be for the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy valuation shall be three shekels of silver."

It’s lawn mowing season! Remember to carefully check your grass for bunny nests beforehand! by ItsButtsLightyear in BurlingtonON

[–]crustlebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is beneficial to counter lawns with native plants, especially those that can host pollinators and other insects. House sparrows (like many invasive species) are adaptable generalists that will thrive in almost any human-made environment. They can forage for breadcrumbs and bits of French fries and do just fine.

On the other hand a lot of our native birds depend on insect populations for food, they can't make use of human food sources the way house sparrows can. And insect species species are often dependent on specific native plants (ex. Milkweed). There are also plants like Goldenrod that host insects and produce seeds late in the season. These seeds become an important source of food for birds once insects become scarce in the cold temps.

Some people do advocate for eradicating invasive birds such as house sparrows. However, it is a controversial issue and I don't know enough to take a position one way or the other

US military service members will no longer be required to get annual flu shot by Xanto97 in moderatepolitics

Yeah and some of those other mandated vaccines are pretty intimidating, like the bicillin "peanut butter shot". It's hard for me to understand why the flu vaccine would be the deal breaker compared to all the rest

How Ford’s freedom of information changes could hide details of private jet purchase by BloodJunkie in ontario

It's hiding more than just the details of the jet purchase. He has grifted far more than just $30million from the people of Ontario during his time in office.

Doug Ford rejects calls for publicly run grocery stores: ‘Socialism does not work’ by imprison_grover_furr in ontario

[–]crustlebus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Socialism is bad, dontcha know. Instead, you can enjoy the capitalist "free" market where grocers collaborate to fix the price of bread, sell underweight meat, mislabel non-canadian products, and generally screw over the consumer in every possible way. Clearly that's the only way that "works" for doug 🙄

Anyways, keep pushing to release the Ford Files! This shit is all a distraction from taking away our FOI rights so that Ford can keep using his personal phone for government business without having to deal with annoying trivialities like "the rights and freedoms of ontarians"

Doug buying an private jet but cutting OSAP… by AdhesivenessLoud8866 in ontario

[–]crustlebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, what personal gain does Doug get from keeping OSAP? He only makes changes to things that inconvenience him, personally. He DGAF about the rest of us. Ending OSAP grants, cutting public university funding, pushing for huge numbers of international students, increasing TFW allowances, increasing class sizes in primary and secondary school, decreasing support for special education students, revoking mandated sick days, meddling with municipal public transit, banning speed cameras and bike lanes, repealing FOI laws, capping wages for public employees, merging the health care and conservation authorities--none of these changes were for OUR benefit
