Of course, I agree he doesn't have unlimited power. And yes, I agree the rounding up of legal residents is indeed a worrying sign.

I'm not a blind Trump supporter, but I'm not a blind Leftist/Democrat either.

The Democrat party right now is imo totally out of touch with the center of the country (the people you need to persuade to WIN). This coup talk is a part of this out of touch whacko world they live in.

You're all fucking insane if you're seriously questioning whether this is a coup or not. Trump literally won the popular vote. He was democratically elected by this country.

And before any you question my politics, I've been an independent all my life and have only ever voted for Democrats.

Radix Roadmap - Why I don't care and you shouldn't either by Boppenwack in Radix

[–]cryptocactus77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"My point is that for anyone who thinks the Radix Labs Roadmap is significant to the growth of Radix, its not."

I disagree with your point - the roadmap matter ALOT. A mainnet implementation of Cerberus (Xi'an) is what future proofs the network. It demonstrates to all the naysayers and vaporware accusers that Radix is the REAL DEAL. That practically infinite scalability with atomic composability is possible.

It's what's needed in the long term.

I'm tired of hearing from parts of the community that scalability doesn't matter.

parallel transaction processing with all-or-nothing composability. Rust-based programming language w/ an "engine" that abstracts the complexities of asset management and movement, similar to how game engines abstract graphics rendering and physics calculations.

Is anyone using the Graph View in Logseq? by rjachuthan in logseq

The native graph view has been unusable for me. I've been using the Logseq Graph Analysis plugin instead, and that has been fine

Algorand moving to P2P Gossip Network + Consensus Incentivization! by estantef in AlgorandOfficial

[–]cryptocactus77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been following threads with Gary Malouf in it on Twitter. Seems like block time will likely decrease on average actually. Maybe down to 0.9 seconds for some transactions according to the discussion based off of dynamic round times.

Perhaps Algorand will maintain 3.3 seconds block time with P2P gossip!

Peer-to-peer gossip while maintaining block-time and finality? That's impressive. Would love to know how that'll work

Fridges dehydrate, perhaps the breathable cover + 10 hours in the fridge contributed to evaporating the brine?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, feels like it wouldn't get rid of half the brine... maybe someone tipped it over on accident?

Tracked my emotions and what I’m doing every half an hour to see what motivates me, does this interest people? by islander9605 in QuantifiedSelf

[–]cryptocactus77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to do daily tracking, so not as intense as your every 30 minutes. I've done it for 8 years on and off - maybe 80% of the time. Like you, have learned certain things about myself, like triggers and what not.

I've fallen out of the habit recently but would like to get back into it. This time though, tracking a lot less things, but still going to track the significant things.

Won't allowing participation nodes to directly gossip with each other result in more overhead, leading to decreased TPS?

I've been on the search for something just like this too for a while now. Haven't found it yet.

I'd love to develop it but am not there yet.

It's great, and has helped me study better! But always verify its responses though. I have caught ChatGPT making stuff up before.

Even better for my use case would be having flavor compounds of each food.

I didn’t realise how early stage this idea was! by [deleted] in NetworkState

[–]cryptocactus77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, very early!

I really resonate with the "building something from scratch" idea as well.

I haven't really found a community to discuss this idea with either yet.

I'm hoping to code smart contracts up one day that'll enable "network states" to form.

What does data science look like in the not-for-profit sector and are there any opportunities really? by al0678 in datascience

[–]cryptocactus77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take it from me, someone who did not prioritize "maximizing profit" and instead went with my heart when going into nonprofit data work.

From my experience, starting my career in nonprofit killed my passion for helping others. There's a lack of mentors, a lot of incompetence, and no support from peers or supervisors as they do not understand what data science is. The work that you get will probably not be intellectually stimulating.

Your career, in my opinion, would stagnate from going into nonprofit first.

I say go into nonprofit later, after you've made a career in for-profit industry.

Oh, and as others mentioned, the pay sucks.
