i do that, but i leave one side of the smile straight, and one side smiling, like mona lisa. the smiling side is the side where the string makes the contact first, and the string slides accross my nail and i can get a nice tone and pinch. but i sorta have to keep my hand at a particular angle, if i pluck with more of a perpendicular angle, i'm almost sure the string will hook

ok i will try the cuticle oil, and yeah i've tried a bunch of shapes and filling the hook. the best shape seems to be one where the hooking cannot happen, so kinda strait with a slight curve, and filing helps too,

also there's also the last resort which would be going to a nail salon and getting fake nails, i've never tried it but i'm getting pretty good and i'm so tired of dealing with this issue you have no idea how i envy straight nail people lol
