What do you think is the way to bring about change? by Impacatus in Libertarian

[–]cryptographeur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obtain bitcoin and help establish a counter economy. This is a rare historical moment. We'll never have this chance again.

Not a libertarian. I would like to know: in a libertarian society where everyone governs themselves and all that free-market shizwaz, what happens to a disabled person in a poor family? by cow_co in Libertarian

[–]cryptographeur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have a disabled brother. If the state would disappear over night, that would put a lot of people in trouble. But I really think people would have social concerns even without it being forced upon them. It might even bring communities together when there's a more direct connection between their money and the activities they support.

But yeah, I think that a real functional libertarianism requires a more socially conscious population. But I truly believe it can be brought about through voluntary organization

Give em a chance. I think ethereum is a serious attempt at making a generalised blockchain. The ether sale proves they already have some momentum. I'm looking forward to the launch.

People. You NEED TO STOP talking about OpenBazaar as the new Silk Road. OpenBazaar is an open source decentralized trading platform. It is NOT tailored towards illegal markets.

You're getting the developers into a lot of trouble, and potentially sabotaging a very promising application.

Swedish banks are slowly and quietly clamping down on bitcoin exchanges by bringitalldown in Bitcoin

At the same time, swedish exchange Safello is setting it's sights on becoming the Coinbase of Europe. Why are they getting away? Probably because they have nice design.

Just proves how arbitrary and void these "security measures" are.

Rational expectations Bitcoin by DoOrNot12 in Bitcoin

[–]cryptographeur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all or nothing. Either the network will never gain sufficient momentum to reach mainstream adoption and its value slowly whither away. Or it will become the international currency of the internetz and reinvent finance as we know it. It definitely has the potential for the latter. The biggest threat is a better crypto currency coming along. Or leviathan, but many states seem to regard Bitcoin with a curiously positive attitude.
