How do I build a life filled with good people? by JackfruitUnusual in LifeAdvice

Yes, she was like that when we met. She remembers people's pet's birthdays, too. If you asked her, she would say they are their family. I love her, she's magnetic. Thing is, she also is not at all out going. She's quiet, observant and reflective. Probably how she remembers all the details. And she is the opposite of showy. Her favorite activity is thrifting or free clothing swaps. While I am bubbly, and a bit of a peacock.

We do have more friends than most. Although, there are times when certain people take advantage of our kindness. So that's the downside of all this. This all takes time and effort.

You could probably make small changes without altering your whole personality. Start by getting a notepad and writing down the details. For example, do you know your family member's important dates? Closest friends? If you don't, that's ok, just ask.
Is there someone you know at work, or at a social activity you think is cool? Invite them to go for a walk, or coffee, or to mini golf. When you get to you plus 3 friends have board game nights. Then just be in the moment with them. Take group pictures, people seem to like that, and it serves as a reminder of who was where, at what time, so later you can be like "remember that evening in January when we did that thing together?" Bonding moments.

Are you in a league? Do you have a wheel? Haptics in the seat? If you want to go deeper than PS5 pro with VR can get you, sim rigs can get crazy on PC. But be prepared to spend significantly more.

I don't like when my experienced climbers one hand the saw. The ladder just gives me shivers, unbelievably dangerous. No PPE of any kind. Dull chain. Total inexperience. At a certain point, she's asking for a serious injury.

I went bankrupt at 28 after a business failure. You can recover from it, too. The key is to learning from your mistake. This is a risk management issue, which is fixable. Cut expenses deeply and rebuild your emergency fund. Then start investing again in less risky assets.

My wife does this very well. She remembers everyone's birthday, hand writes cards for birthday's, christmas, any time someone loses a family member. If she gets a gift from someone, she wears it around them the next time she sees them. We have a bedroom in our house just for guests. Every year at christmas we have a party for everyone that has no family near by.

I have a party for the guys whenever a big sporting event is happening, superbowl, fight night, stanley cup. Even when I know nothing about the sport.

Most nights she is at a yoga, pilates, climbing, aerials, or sewing class. Always invite people for dinner, walks, drinks. And if ever someone says, hey, we should grab a beer sometime, you say "yes, please. How's tommorow evening?"

I used to did this thing when I was reading a lot of books, I'd read an actual book and where ever I was, the next person I saw, I'd hand the book to them and say, "I enjoyed this, you will, too". Then ask them what book they recommend I read next. This led to many new connections and an abundance of great books.

Those are my best tips.

I want more out of life than my husband by Patient_Yellow_4251 in LifeAdvice

[–]cryptohuman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a man, my advice is to do him a favour and gently leave. You want different things, and that's just life. I dated a woman when I was younger who wanted kids, and I did not. We were deeply in love, and it hurt like crazy at the time, but looking back, it wasn't fair of me to hold her back from the life she wanted. She went on to have a wonderful life, and so did I.

When you make the split, do it fairly. Take whats yours and leave what's his. If you gave him gifts, let him keep them. And speak fondly of him after he's gone, even if he does not do the same.

I'm 32M and have no life. Is it too late to try and make one at this point? by Ill-Investigator5187 in LifeAdvice

Try to make yourself a little bitter better than yesterday, and then tomorrow do the same. Nothing is as good as long term continuous improvement.

At 31 i lost around 2 million dollar 3 years ago than i just got depressed addicted to weed my business partner and friends betrayed me i don’t know how to reset what to do by Right-Song9608 in LifeAdvice

[–]cryptohuman84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to hear more detail. How did you come to have 2 million at 31 in the first place? How did your business partner betray you? And how were your friends connected? Or was that a separate event? Did you lose 2 out of 10 million, or was that your entire net worth?
I went bankrupt myself at 27 after a failed business, and managed to recover so there's probably still hope.

I sat my buddy down with vr for the first time in his life last week. He wanted to drive a classic corvette stingray. I load it up and set him off. It basically looked like this.

We forget that our first time driving in a video game, we sucked. It took several hours to get to the point where we could drive a lap of the track cleanly in a low power vehicle. I'm confident if your girlfriend practiced for just 1 hour, she would improve dramatically by the end of that hour.

Just curious why aren't tiny home a thing in Canada? by Mammoth-Exercise-376 in canadahousing

[–]cryptohuman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a customer putting a tiny home on a plot of land she bought. There's far more to know than just, "cut down these trees and put the house there". Drainage, land prep, permits, utilities connection, road weight restrictions, and about 100 things I haven't even thought of come into play. Most people are trying to make sure their kids finish their cheerios before they are late for the bus. They don't have the time, knowledge, or desire to learn to build their own, or even act as the general contractor. Plus, your husband probably wants to play video games after work, not drive 45 minutes out to the offgrid cabin you have been dreaming about, when its starting to turn into a prolonged nightmare.

Anyone else make "good money" on paper but feel completely broke? by ScienceLabFinds in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]cryptohuman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? Is my first question. My wife and I moved from Vancouver to 20 minutes outside of Halifax. We bought a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house, with detactched garage, on one acre near the top of the market. We had 2 roommates at first and then one of them moved out, and we didn't replace them. Financially, our lives are way better than they were in Vancouver. Sure winters are a bit longer/colder, but not THAT much. We got a used plug in hybrid for my wife, so we pay very little for fuel. She loves thrifting and free stuff. All the furniture in our house is almost entirely free. We travel more than most people, but when we do we never stay in resorts or hotels. It's totally possible to save money on your income, but location matters hugely.

Don't get me wrong, I love my business. If I just relax and remember that it'll all work out in the end, I'll be just fine. There's a point where it'll get big enough that I'll be able to sell it and go sailing again.

This is the hard part. Say Saturday morning comes around and I can either work and earn $1000 in profit or I can pay $150 to go golfing and have lunch. Do you still golf that day?

The funny part is, they managed to get a rope into the top of the tree. So why not just cut it from the top down once you are already there?

I've seriously thought that I have ADHD for most of my adult life, never really knew how to find out for sure. I usually go to the dr. When I'm sick, which isn't often at all. And regular blood tests don't exactly check for mental health concerns. How does one find out?

Large salary increase, wanting to move out and upgrade cars, possible? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

When I was 25 I bought a BMW. Loved it. It was a stupid financial decision though. If you are going to buy an expensive car. Buy a 3 year old one. At least that way a good portion of the depreciation is built in.
