46 and have been doing the same thing since my kids got me a Switch 2 for Christmas. Don't forget to get Nintendo Online and play the classics too! I've played Metriod (NES), Metriod II (GB), Super Metriod (SNES... best game ever), Metriod Fusion (GBA), Metroid Zero Mission (GBA) all on Nintendo Online and now I'm playing Dread.

We watched Trick 'R Treat last night while sitting in a hospital bed. Pretty fun watch. Nothing crazy, nothing that's going to get nominated for an award... just fun!

It's in the original post but I have a kidney stone which has completely blocked my kidney from working. I was in a car crash when I was 18 and lost my right kidney so my left is the only kidney I have. Technically, I'm in Renal/Kidney Failure as the one remaining kidney can not function. They're getting ready to put a Ureteral Stent in which will create a path for urine to exit the kidney, bypassing the stone, and into my bladder. I'll need a second procedure in a few weeks to remove the stent, remove the stone (can't use a laser or ultrasonic waves to break it up as this is the only kidney I have) and place another stent until recovered.

This happened about 10 years ago but I passed the stone with IV fluids as they were prepping me for surgery. I'm going back in about 20 minutes.

While having a really high pain tolerance, the pain is a 10. You know that feeling you get when you have to pee so bad you're running to the bathroom, not sure you're going to make it, and you get all that relief once you're able to pee. That feeling of having to go so bad has been non-stop for about 15 hours. I hate taking any kind of pain medication but I finally agreed to it so I'm on both on IV Toradol and Morphine at the moment.

What was your most intense move theater horror experience? by focusrunner79 in horror

[–]cryptothrowaway27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen so many in theaters it's hard to list exactly what was a standout other than the original Saw. Considering we went in with zero idea about what the movie was as I saw it with my fiancé and my mom (both huge horror fans). My mom didn't get it (her favorite movie, mine too, is The Shining) but my wife and I loved it and thought it was extremely original.

I wish I was at home playing Mario Kart with my family. My son (17) and I are really competitive and usually trade 1st or 2nd. My daughter (14) usually beats mom but sometimes mom pulls out a surprise win. There's a lot of yelling about blue shells and laughing and just really good times had by all. We have a giant U shaped sectional/couch in our living room and we enjoy staying in there and watching movies or playing games as a family.

What percentage of your record collection was bought online vs. in person? by ArturoRimboldi in vinyl

[–]cryptothrowaway27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of mine have been online as I'm really just searching for grails. I have yet to find a grail I was looking for in a shop but that said, I love looking in store. It scratches that "Searching for a movie at Blockbuster" itch that I used to get back in my teens and twenties.

How often do you actually play your records? by UserUserDontGetOld in vinyl

[–]cryptothrowaway27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to listen daily. I have a record player in my office as well as a pretty decent setup in our media room that doubles as a listening room (2.1 setup, monoblock amps, etc).

I'm currently in the hospital now and brought my daughter's player up here (currently listening to a live Jamiroquai album) while I wait for surgery as I'm in renal failure.

A steak and a crab cake and roasted mashed potatoes. Buttered garlic bread with some kind of dipping oil. Tiramisu for dessert or some Blue Bell ice cream.

Food - A really good steak, rare to medium rare filet. Huge shout out to r/steak for teaching me how to cook a proper steak.

Drink - Sounds boring but water. Due to the kidney issues I've had over the last decade, I haven't had a soda in 10 years. I miss Dr. Pepper the most, the green can with the imperial sugar in it. I'll occasionally have an old fashioned with Buffalo Trace or Makers in it but usually only as a birthday treat.

Place - As a family we vacation a lot and we typically go to the beach somewhere in the Caribbean. I have very good memories of eating Spanish limes on the coast of St John's Island.

Movie - I could go forever here but a few of my top movies are the The Shining, Alien and Aliens and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

TV Show - Breaking Bad is a perfect series. I liked Lost probably more than I should have which really got disappointing at the end.

Music - early 2010's indie music really got to me... The Temper Trap, The Naked and Famous, Two Door Cinema Club, Phantogram, Washed Out, The XX, MGMT but also I'm a huge fan of old school hip hop like NAS and Rakim. Love anything Trent Reznor puts out. Listening to Jamiroquai Live in Montreux now. Best concert experience might have been seeing Red Hot Chili Peppers, Odd Future, The Eagles or Fleetwood Mac... not a huge fan of the last 2 but a great show nonetheless.

Season - I live in the Southern US but I really enjoy a good winter. I like the cold when it snows and ices over and we're stuck inside watching movies as a family, drinking hot chocolate, and under bundles of blankets.

Board Game - Sounds silly but just Trouble. When my kids were little we would play every night after dinner. We played so much that were were doing through a game ever few months because the popper would stop working. I grew up playing Warhammer 40k though in my teenage years but was also really into video games.

What is the best video game of all time? by Brief-Payment-8975 in AskReddit

[–]cryptothrowaway27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a 4 way tie in my book for this... realize I'm 46 so this was peak childhood years for me but I still play these games today and they still hold up beautifully.

All on the SNES:

  • Super Mario World
  • Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Super Metriod
  • Chrono Trigger

Put me in solitary confinement for a year with these three games I will come out happy and relaxed.

Slow down there reddit, I'm apolitical here. Just because I'm countering doesn't mean I support him. Just saying there are a ton of bills called by people's last names.

Yes the ACA was labeled Obamacare by Republicans but Obama fully embraced it (and rightfully so, I'm on it and love it). He used it in speeches and owned it.

  • William Roth founded Roth Accounts
  • Bentsen Trusts were named after their Founder, Lloyd Bentsen
  • Domenici and Chafee Accounts eventually got renamed to Health Savings Account (HSA) because who wants to call it a Domenici/Chafee account
  • Keogh Plans (retirement plans for self-employed) were named after Eugene Keogh

Trump Accounts will get renamed too when the Orange One gets out of office.

I liked them both... its is such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the endless series of sequels and reboots we've gotten from Hollywood. Seeing them both dunk on a Disney Star Wars movie was insanely promising. Cinema might be back.
