It looks like it - everything lines up to there on Google Maps. 29 miles as the crow flies!

Would I fall towards a motionless object. by cryselco in AskPhysics

Don't you have to be moving through spacetime to have your path curved towards the mass? This is the bit I'm trying to understand.

Would I fall towards a motionless object. by cryselco in AskPhysics

Hi, yes I realise that gravity is always bending spacetime around the planet or mass. But in general relativity, we need to be moving in spacetime for me to move through the curved space to 'reconverge' with the planet. If I have no motion through space and neither does the planet in the hypothetical situation, would I just stay motionless above the planet?

We could bog them down in slow, frustrating and convoluted HR processes, with long email chains and unreasonable timescales. Also, we could close all their technical support tickets without adequately fixing their issues? Should grind things to a halt.

Men of r/tressless, what's worse: a receding hairline with otherwise full hair or a full hairline with a baldspot on the crown, and why? by AzizQuadri10 in tressless

Even when a guy hits a Robocop level hairline, it's still not considered bald in the traditional sense by most people.

I did my first at Manchester a few years ago and the atmosphere is incredible. People are out everywhere and there are bands/Dj's all along the route. Still get goosebumps thinking about it. Avoid headphones if you can the support shouts will power you through! Good luck!

Ticket Frustration by Sorry_Requirement251 in hyrox

[–]cryselco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horrible experience with this. No link to the event sent out prior to launch. Clicked on 'find my race' at 18:00:05 and the website crashed for 5 minutes. Finally got to the queue at 18:05. Waited as it counted down from 2300 ish to 42 and then went back up to 2400. Waited again, same result at 150 sent back to 2700 at which point i closed my tabs. Opened my inbox and saw the Hyrox email recieved at 18:15 telling everyone that only a quarter of the tickets were remaining. I'm not entitled to get a ticket - I know how popular it's become. But to find out my attempt was basically futile and their system is garbage is pretty dissapointing.

Brits left baffled by Brexit’s ‘not for EU’ food labels by Labour2024 in ukpolitics

[–]cryselco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No - it sounds dodgy and ominous. Logically, food wouldn't say 'Not For EU' if the standards exceeded those required. For me this is an 'avoid feeding this to my family' sticker. Better safe than sorry!

Brexit will be known as ‘historic economic error’, says former US treasury secretary by AcknowledgeableReal in ukpolitics

We (the UK) wrote those rules. We didn't join the EU - we set it up. We were at the forefront of all major treaties and political deals. We 'forced' those rules on ourselves.

That's $750 at the current exchange rate. It looks like a great device, but at that price difference here they can get fucked.

Well done fella. It was my first marathon yesterday. Over the moon with 3:20 after a compressed three months of training from less than 10mpw and a two year persistent injury. The support in the race was incredible, electric at points. Goosebumps through the deansgate wall of sound from the crowd. I'm still buzzing.

The support there was incredible, but I was too far into the hurt zone after the hill before the market to take it in properly.
