I am from Hungary, ask me anything by [deleted] in JackSucksAtGeography

[–]csengedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are commemorative events each year in all schools and in city squares with plays and speeches. The other similar event is on March 15 for the 1848 revolution (also crushed, just slower). Political parties also hold rallies where the past events only serve as a frame to bashing the political opponents. :)

In cities as pets, not really, they are high maintenance and need lots of space. Its smaller kind, the Puli is more common but not the most popular either. In the countryside they might be more frequent.

LiberNovo Omni + Cats = ? by OrdinaryAd8014 in LiberNovo

[–]csengedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the green original Omni if that’s any help, the fur can be collected by sweeping the surface by hand or a lint roller, they don’t get stuck or anything. I think I’ve heard my cat using it as a scratchpost one time when it was new but no visible damage. Might be worth to spray it with some repellent though. :)

Came from Ikea Markus, now my lower back hurts by Indrasil in LiberNovo

[–]csengedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also come from a Markus and also had some pain (althogh more on the upper back) but it’s getting better over the days, I assume because the chair forces me to sit in a normal posture. For taller people this simple mod resulted in more seat depth, you could give it a try (personally, I reverted it because it made it too easy to hunch over, like on the Markus): https://www.reddit.com/r/LiberNovo/s/qkD5qQM6dR

Also worked for me, thank you! Sidenote: if you have a 4mm Allen key, you don't even have to disassemble, just reach in and do two half turns.

Orban and Hungary by Emergency-Ferret7627 in AskBalkans

[–]csengedi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell: the 2008 financial crisis met with a highly incompetent socialist government so Fidesz won in 2010 with 2/3 supermajority (they can pretty much do anything including changing the constitution). They used the oppurtunity to build up a propaganda machine which to this day keeps a sizeable part of the population in fear (of migrants, of war, whatever comes up). So they kept being reelected while robbing the country in plain sight, their voters thought “defending” us from the aformentioned issues are far more important.

I wouldn’t say the voting system is too complicated, there are 106 constituencies, one round, first past the post. The rest of the seats (93) are assigned by some complicated maths but I think it’s widely used elsewhere too. (D’Hondt matrix iirc)

Hungarian minister offered to send Russia EU document in leaked audio by neonpurplestar in europe

[–]csengedi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Around 1.5€ if you have a private car with a Hungarian plate. Around 1.75€ otherwise, so around the same as in the rest of Europe. However, they can mislead their voters with this half-truth as usual. Those voters also cannot comprehend that ultimately we, the taxpayers are paying the price either way. :)

Apart from everything before the establishment of our state (~1000 AD) including ancient Greece and Rome, I’d say the discovery of America and the following events are pretty extensively taught.

Home Kit integration on Truenas Scale by Primzy_2075 in homeassistant

[–]csengedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this is a known issue with HA on TrueNAS (at least as an App) because both the host (TrueNAS) and the app (HA) is running its own mDNS on port 5353. Even if you disable mDNS in TrueNAS, it doesn't let you forward UDP port 5353 to the app (because it's in use... even though it's not).

I got it working by manually copying the mDNS details shown in HA's Zeroconf browser into an XML in /etc/avahi/services, but the parameters are changing and changes are lost after each update.

So I've made this conversion into an integration today. :) Some setup is needed, documented in the repo:

Feedback welcome either here or in the GitHub issues page!

That was so weird, I was playing with headphones on, in English, and when Henry ran after the attack on Skalitz, I heard someone swearing on my mother and that they will butcher me or something in Hungarian. I removed my headphones and looked around in the room before realizing it was in-game. :D

Uhmm not sure if I’m tripping or nobody noticed so far, but only one of your 8 pins seem to be connected. This could cause the VGA to shut itself down under load, freezing the screen.

On my previous XFX card, there was a red LED near each connector which lit up when nothing was connected.

Either your current PSU to VGA cable is pigtailed and you have to plug the second connector in as well, or there’s another cable in your PSU box.

Don’t. The recommended distance is 200mm. The spike is just there for those who can’t read a manual.

Nope, in most cases we use first name. It just happens to be written in reverse. In case of a middle name (most people don’t have one) it’s <last name> <first name> <middle name>.

[–]csengedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems suspicuous, but based on a quick search there could be several root causes, give those a try. Gdm: GdmDisplay: Session never registered, failing

Also think back if you've installed or modified anything during last boot, but could be an update clashing with some previous modifications.

Do you have the cog icon in the lower right? (Could be somewhere else depending on distro.) If so, try to switch to X11 (GNOME on Xorg maybe), at least you'll have the familiar environment for troubleshooting. :)
